I worked at HCL Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Provides great learning opportunities and insights into different clients' work cultures.
Flexibility to move between teams and projects.
Builds great consulting experience for a fresher/experienced developer.

    Cons

Compensation is okay, not great at all.
Management is very old fashioned and has tendency to micro-manage one's in and out time, irrespective of the quality of work being turned in.

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality of work rather than micromanaging an individual,
Do not overlook extra time put in by an individual to get work done in tight deadlines.
Put lesser focus on enforcing learning and other process oriented trainings/documents related to the company but totally unrelated to the consultant's everyday work.

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None, I am not even exaggerating

    Cons

This is the worst company I have ever worked for. They hate you if you are not Indian and give you dirty looks all the time. There is ZERO communication and nobody knows what they are supposed to be doing. They provide ZERO help to anyone and yell at you and treat you like your stupid if you ask. They give you no assignments or training and then yell at you for not doing work. It is truly an alternative universe to work there. I would avoid it at all costs. Everyone there says they hate their job, but need to keep it for their H1B visas. 95% of the company is H1B visas, so if you are not Indian, you will not be welcome there.

    Advice to Management

    Fire yourselves

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are no pro's for HCL.

    Cons

Largest importer of H1B visa scum in the USA. Haters of all American native workers. No communication or leadership skills. Management appears to be nothing more then a ra-ra club. Constant pressure applied to employees to push worthless, unsolicited and unneeded programs on the customer. HCL only exists because it bought it's way in, swindled, lied or cheated to gain contracts in Redmond.

    Advice to Management

    Commit suicide.

I worked at HCL Technologies as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good health insurance at a reasonable cost. Varied job opportunities from simple manual test work to development work.

    Cons

HCL requires the employee to spend a significant amount of time doing the work their HR teams should be doing. They also require a large amount of training which honestly has no use to most professionals already working in the US and this training takes up significant blocks of time. HCL also sends a lot of email and requires near constant upkeep of your employee profile which eats into time either your spare time or impacts your work for a client. For the amount of pay they bill to a client versus what the actual worker is making, HCL is not doing enough.

    Advice to Management

Minimize the micromanagement of your employees and make the training optional. If someone wishes to grow, encourage it, but requiring an employee to do training which has no positive impact on them is wasting the client's time and the employees time.

    Pros

Management actively finds a project once the current project ends.
My managers were very good and were always ready to listen to me.

    Cons

The HCL employee website needs to be redesigned. Lot of bugs and performance issues.

    Advice to Management

Please increase the pay rates of the employees to retain the employees and to keep their motivation levels up.
