I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

HCL has an incredible benefits package available to Full Time Employees- Full family insurance with the best plan is 164 per month - almost unheard of in value.

    Cons

Internal systems, processes are legacy and homegrown in many cases (HCL is an engineering firm - so this makes sense it would program it's own instead of buying off the shelf), but those are now becoming weaknesses as the company has grown to a global footprint - worldwide standardized tools instead of primarily "India Based" design would benefit for the lucrative delivery regions like North America and EU.

    Advice to Management

Standardize and modernize the internal HR systems - currently many of the systems are non-standard - home-grown or written applications. they do not conform to typical large business in look, feel, language, description, etc. For example - Per Diem in the travel tool is "BMC". Many of hte other categories for basic HR functions are not in a well-organized format.

Rollout of iSuccess has been sloppy over the last 2 years - and it is not being utilized to its full potential for training, HR management.

    Advice to Management

Change required from top level guy

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Provides great learning opportunities and insights into different clients' work cultures.
Flexibility to move between teams and projects.
Builds great consulting experience for a fresher/experienced developer.

    Cons

Compensation is okay, not great at all.
Management is very old fashioned and has tendency to micro-manage one's in and out time, irrespective of the quality of work being turned in.

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality of work rather than micromanaging an individual,
Do not overlook extra time put in by an individual to get work done in tight deadlines.
Put lesser focus on enforcing learning and other process oriented trainings/documents related to the company but totally unrelated to the consultant's everyday work.
