I have been working at HCL Technologies (Less than a year)

    Pros

    hmmmmmm....
My work hours were flexible. But that is only because my boss was rebadged from the client as well so we had worked together before.
When I was rebadged I got a two year employment guarantee, that was honored to many employees who were removed from the account before the two years were up.

    Cons

All about the bottom line, despite what they say about employee first.
If you are rebadged from a company to HCL as part of HCL getting them as a client your days are probably numbered, start looking. As soon as they can find offshore resources to do your job they will. They will most likely be less skilled, but cheaper and you will probably have to train your replacement, that is what I am doing now.
    Totally disorganized.
In my experience they don't care about the client, they care about getting cheaper people to do the work so they can be more profitable.
    Not honest when you join.
Offshore and onshore do not talk. In three years hardly involved in any team meetings. Even onshore boss had team meetings with offshore but did not involve onshore.
    Not much compensation in reviews.
crappy HR, if you can find them.
I could go on. More fool me for being lazy and not getting out sooner.... They are now replacing me with less skilled cheaper resources. I fear(know) the client will get a reduced service.

    Advice to Management

    Be honest with employees.
When you bid really low for a contract tell the rebadged employees that the overall goal is to make it more profitable by replacing expensive onshore resources.
    Get organized.

I worked at HCL Technologies (More than 3 years)

    Pros

On campus assignments to Microsoft, great place to work

    Cons

Dealing with HCL's backasswards internal websites to fill in time pages, request per-diem for out-of-town assignments, expense reimbursement, etc, etc

Dealing with HCL management, especially the overseas components (what a nightmare)

    Advice to Management

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Healthcare package and employee benefits package.

    Cons

    1) Do not believe the recruiters. They will lie to you.
    2) They do not like Americans. It is an Indian company, and they prefer only working with Indians. It is extremely racist.
    3) If they hire you as a full time employee for a client, they will fire you immediately after the client does not need you.
    4) Do not believe the Employee First nonsense. I have been working for them for 4 months, and I have only physically met 2 two people from the company. There is no employee training or welcome. You are on your own.

    Advice to Management

Have a training period for new hires. Show them how the company works. Show them who is who, and how things get done. I have never even met my manager.

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time

    Pros

Except for some of the members of my team, there are no 'Pros'.

    Cons

This was the worst company I've ever worked for! Ever!
Chaos from first day to last. Client so angry, they cancelled the entire project. And I don't blame them.

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Used to be an employee friendly company

    Cons

Claim as one of the top IT Services company with poor top level management. Suck your blood and there are couple of accounts like UBS - they literally put you under the bus - humiliate you in all occasions

    Advice to Management

Change required from top level guy

I worked at HCL Technologies as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

They just try to get people on-board and then don't give them job, so no pros of course

    Cons

I was promised to be placed on some role, I was going there at there Redmond office on 148th ave and then after 15 days they ditched me, I wasted my time and Money. I had a very bad experience in those 15 days! I felt like I am punished sitting in there office. They promised to give guidance, training and placement. Nothing happened as they promised. Sincere request to please stop this culture, and treat people bad!

After All this episode I got a decent job in microsoft for next 6 years through other very good placement company. So a Big NO to HCL XXXXXX!!!

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice pretty Atrium Building to walk into

    Cons

They will throw you on the phones for about 4 weeks on the Anthem project to try you out, you will take back to back calls, create tickets, and try to soak in all the end user issues that you are totally clueless about, this company provides no end user training on Anthem's systems and or applications. Within your 4 week period they will evaluate you based on you performance. After your 4 week period is over, and if you have a performance score of 86% or higher, they will either cancel your contract or move you to the dungeon. AVOID THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU DESPERATELY NEED A PAYCHECK

    Advice to Management

I don't think this company has managers just mentors

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only reason to work for HCL is for the health insurance, which is pretty good. If you have five kids, are male and need to insure them cheaply, then it may be worth settling to work at HCL to get that good insurance.

    Cons

I'm a white, American female with a graduate degree and fifteen years experience in start ups in Silicon Valley. At HCL, I was treated like I had no degree and no experience. My managers in Chennai treated me like I was a 22 year old blue collar woman and if they could have had me serve them coffee across the oceans that separated us, they would have. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM IF YOU ARE FEMALE, no matter what your race. I did a lot of research on the company and I don't think it's an Indian thing -- HCL is hated in India, too. It's just a very large global company with a terrible culture. Kind of like the Walmart of India. (I won't shop at Walmart because of how they little they pay their floor staff.) I quit the job when I found out I was making 60% of what the white males were making with less experience and education. It's THAT kind of company. I've experience pay differences due to gender in the past, but in companies run by American males, it's usually only a 10% gap, and that I can live with.

    Advice to Management

Why give them advice? They'll never listen. So the only advice I can give is to prospective employees and it's this -- GO WORK FOR A BETTER COMPANY.

I worked at HCL Technologies as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I learned so much from my amazing co-workers. The knowledge I can carry with me and the friends I can keep for a lifetime.

    Cons

The company is based in India. We are an American voice for them to gain big contracts. They do not pay what we are worth and after a year of promising a permanent position nothing. They feel the American Laws for workers do not apply so they do not believe in fair pay for work, they do not believe in advancement of women in HCL America, and they do not recognize ADA Law. Over worked, under-payed and not appreciated that is what I received on this job from the leads, project manager for my account and HCL as a whole. No leadership and the biggest excuse I heard was "your a contractor". I wouldn't have been if they fulfilled their empty promises.

    Advice to Management

    Doesn't happen for women.
