    I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Manor Care is great company that values its employees and is very supportive. The company has an open door policy, supports its employees in their growth with tuition loan repayments if hired and remain full time. All in all its benefits are great and would encourage if employed by the company that you take full advantage.

    Cons

    Not being able to accomplish your duties in the time selected and being asked to get off the clock on time.

    Advice to Management

    It would be great if the company would pay for education when one is starting than after. Going back to school is a great financial undertaking for employees with families. Staff accordingly to patients acuity and needs.

    I worked at HCR ManorCare full-time for less than a year

    Getting to know the residents

    Cons

    Was told I would be given a 10 day orientation, I was thrown onto an unknown floor by day 3, staff were over-worked and most had a nasty disposition. RN supervisors are abused and over-worked. When needing help with doctor orders I was told by the other LPN "you can figure it out on your own". Would never ever recommend this place for RNs, LPNs, CNAs or any other staff.

    Advice to Management

    Consider applying an actual orientation for new staff members and making them comfortable in their position and not setting them up for failure.

    Short staff, unorganized, unit managers need to help more when short of staff.

    Needs better organization and unit managers need to do more to help nursing staff.

    Pros

    Dental, Medical, Prescription, Vision insurance. Master schedule for nurses so you will always know what you work, even a year away. Good to gain experience

    Cons

    High deductible insurance plans, 1 year to accure vacation days, low pay, terrible 401k plan. Look else where for a job. Nurses wear WHITE scrubs. (Even patients don't like them. They can be see-through, stain easily, get dingy and look dirty) High patient to nurse ratio High patient to aide ratio

    Advice to Management

    Pay employees more, figure out a better 401k plan, give more incentives for picking up hours so patients aren't getting angry from having 2 aides for 40 patients.

    All of the Administrative department are supportive except 1

    Cons

    My unit is always busy and were very particular for over time which sometimes you can't help it when you are very busy with late admission with no help

    Advice to Management

    Please continue to support your staff and get rid of any one that that's tries to let hard and experience workers leave

    Pros

    Team care, clean environment, fair pay, encourage new ideas, Namaste (Holistic) care, positive reinforcement from Director of Nursing and Director of building.

    Cons

    No hour flexibility, job sharing, 12 hour shifts, No benefits unless full time.

    Advice to Management

    Recognition of perfect attendance, no tardies. Consider building director deciding what works best for his/her building, just as states mandate some rules and federal government oversees all. Allow some workers to come in every couple months to clean out/clean up at their hourly wage but separate from their job of hire. These jobs cannot always be done in addition to tasks of job without taking away from routine care. ate from their job of hire.
