I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have worked for HCR ManorCare for 3 .5 years and I can honestly say I work for a company with integrity. Not only do I work with the staff at my agency there is always a helping hand when needed from other offices when needed. I would recommend HCR ManorCare/ Heartland Hospice to anyone looking to make a career change this is the employer to consider.

    Cons

Insurance options and out of pocket cost

    Advice to Management

Keep up the support of your line employees

I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Willing to work with you on different schedules.
    Easy transfer to another facility
    Good standards for patient care

    Cons

Outsourced kitchen and cleaning company are awful. The food provided to residents is terrible. No options for different dietary needs. I had a resident who was gluten free receive one slab of hamburger and a spoonful of mash potatoes for dinner EVERY day he was there.
Little to no benefits to advance in career.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the outsourcing and hire a chef and kitchen crew.

I worked at HCR ManorCare part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Felixable, clean facility, Quick hire, They respond fast when you apply.

    Cons

It is hard to find someone to help you pull up, change or transfer a patient. They are short staff AM & PM shift you have 8-14 patients and NOC 14-22

    Advice to Management

Noc Nurses are horrible. Most Pm shift nurse are great although do not expect them to answer one call like for you on the contrary they'll turn it on.

I worked at HCR ManorCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

when you can provide that moment of positivity for residents and/or staff it can really be fulfilling and make you feel like your work is actually appreciated.

    Cons

no designated facilities for activities to take place
too much work assigned to actitivities staff; in order to make it work, either some residents end up missing out, or things don't get done in time
better training is needed to educate how the entire environment and details work, not just the gist of how to run an activity (which is very different in concept than application)
the pay is definitely not enough, for what you are doing OR for what is necessary just to live.

    Advice to Management

*have designated spaces and facilities for activities
    *support your staff more
    *Provide more staff
    *pay staff a living wage
    *more in-depth training
