I have been working at HCRI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many intelligent colleagues who want to see improvements in the company and make suggestions to management

    Cons

There are also employees who waste time and money. Management and executives are not transparent to staff about company goals, earnings, and improvements. Many suggestions made my employees are not implemented, or management says they are working on it, but no changes are made. One review says that certain departments will create a great atmosphere to work, and others will not. This is VERY true. Some departments are great, others are draining and there is no morale. There is a lot of negative attitude across the company and the above items result in high turnover.

    Advice to Management

Improve staff relationships with management. Listen to staff when they make suggestions or request additional training. Promote and reward those who deserve it, and get more feedback from colleagues who see the actual day to day rather than managers who are disconnected from the staff.

    Pros

Some of the people are very kind and easy to get along with. Benefits are okay, but other similar companies have better. Easy commute via MBTA. Nice discounts at local garages for those who drive. Pay is fair for some and bad for others.

    Cons

Many senior managers and department directors have no idea how to manage or lead employees. Depending on what department you work in, you can have a great experience or a horrible experience. No one in the company seems to care about employee morale or retention. Millennials are seen as pests that have to be dealt with. There is no career growth or interest in employee learning. Internal promotions and hires are usually denied. Communication from executive management is non-existent. Some questionable policies and procedures exist.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and see you are losing good employees. Work on communication with all employees. Train managers and directors who are directly supervising employees how to be a good manager. Where possible be more open to telecommuting. Remember that employees are people, not robots, who work hard so you can have your cush salaries.

I worked at HCRI (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good location to for commute. OK benefits and a great group of people to work with.

    Cons

Management levels are all about politics. One of the very high level director is extremely arrogant and control freak. Employees get promotions only if they make their manager happy, obviously in a way other than hard-working.

    Advice to Management

Improve the workplace by bringing fresh idea people to the upper management, or train the managers to respect their employees.

I have been working at HCRI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Location is pretty good - next to public transportation
    - Benefits are adequete
    - Pay is standard

    Cons

    - No practical path for growth and development within specific roles
    - Management seems disconnected from employees' unhappiness resulting in many resignations
    - Seriously understaffed due to high turnover within the past 6 months
    - Employee training is scattered and disorganized if not nonexistent

    Advice to Management

Create DEFINED paths for training and growth with timelines for ALL remaining employees and improve relationships with staff who haven't left yet. Many people feel overworked, undertrained, and stagnant in their roles within SM.

    "Bad management"

    I worked at HCRI full-time

    Pros

HCRI has been an incredible educational experience for me in every way. I’ve met and worked with many great people, too many to name in fact (remember, what happens in the Operations Group stays in the Operations Group).

    Cons

There have been a ton of changes within the organization, some good, some bad…but through it all, this organization has stepped up and accomplished great things. I wouldn’t have been able to survive if you all weren’t such wonderful and talented people.

I worked at HCRI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great location, decent benefits and a great group of people to work with.

    Cons

Lack of communication from all levels of the management team.
Lack of resourcing. People are over resourced to studies with no help from management and no discussion about hiring others to help ease the workload which has caused a huge turnover rate.
Staff put into positions that they are not qualified for with no guidance from management.
One Associate Director in particular is extremely rude and condescending to employees.

    Advice to Management

Do something to improve the atmosphere of the company as a whole. Bring in consultants to try and figure out how to fix the issues. Hire more staff so people don't burn out so quickly.
