I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good work life balance, most of the people are very good to work with

    Cons

High employee turnover, especially contractors and consultants. Systems needs lot of improvement and upgrades. Too many changes taking place without due diligence or proper transition midstream of an ongoing business process/framework. At times management is quick to blame the employee for lack of framework and system deficiency that they have.

    Advice to Management

About time to upgrade and fix the old systems....

I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Co workers are amazing, pay is nice along with bonuses. You get to pick your schedule. You get to build good relationships with your customers that's what makes work the most fun

    Cons

Benefits aren't that great, they don't kick in until after 90 days upper management only cares about you making 45 calls instead of having good conversations with your customers

    Advice to Management

They hire people for upper management positions who are not fit for the position. And VERY big on favoritism.

Immediate Management should be replaced with more effective and reasonable management.

    Advice to Management

If sales representatives are performing well in sales, and are experienced , work hard, no one should be left behind.

I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is very stable - any infrastructure/distribution industry is a safe place to work. The president of the Waterworks Division is very personable and accessible. There are some very hard workers, and some very bright individuals within the company.

    Cons

Different areas in the finance organization have seen tremendous turnover, and continue to. It is clearly the next level of management that is the reason for individuals leaving the department/company, but yet nothing is done.

Hardly anyone trust the HR department.

The benefits, for a family, are incredibly expensive.

There aren't many set development opportunities, and there is no clear path to promotion.

Many of the managers are young, and are excellent at their jobs, but aren't effective people leaders.

    Advice to Management

Please consider improving medical benefits for employees and their families. Please work on training your young managers/Directors to be good people leaders. Please understand that a great deal of employees don't feel comfortable bringing issues to the HR department.

    Pros

Business to Business Soft Collections; They are great at working with you to advance as far as you want to go within the company; B Andrews (supervisor) is great about pushing you to make you better, company growth and recognizing what you can and can't handle to not put too much on your plate or if it's too easy and you're getting bored, putting more on your plate so that you are challenged.

    Cons

The only con I can think of is that in the credit department you were using multiple systems and screens and only had one monitor; however since I have left I have heard they have rectified that and everyone has 2 screens now.
Health Benefits super expensive for a family, but that's really everywhere now.

    Advice to Management

When B Andrews retires, continue in her stride to know how to challenge employees who do great and get bored because of the lack of challenge; she was great about creating new things to add on to make it more challenging.
