I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Customers like HD Supply and want to deal with them

    Cons

CEO being investigated by the FBI. Crap falls from the top down. Old Boys Club; people get promoted for the wrong reasons. Regional managers are out of touch with conditions in each market. Changed bonus plan to benefit them. Delusional growth goals especially in property improvement.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately management no longer values an employees loyalty, past performance and growth. They care about their own needs which are to provide unreasonable growth and will do so at the expense of good people.

    Pros

scheduling is nice mon-fri., weekends off. asking for time off is no big deal. benefits are good but a bit on the expensive side. if you can find somewhere less expensive other than going through them for your health, you'll save a lot. the vision and dental are affordable. not sure you can get them without the health though. 401k is matched so whatever you put in the better.

    Cons

advancement and good raises are all about who you know with in the company, hard work is not noticed or rewarded and you will be working hard, especially if you start in the warehouse...

    Advice to Management

if your not going to promote the hard workers, at least make sure they are getting and that you are giving them good raises that show them you noticed and appreciate their hard work.

    Pros

The Management are reasonably nice people. You accrue vacation as soon as your hired which takes you a year at most companies. There are occasional perks such as lunch but they are very few and far between. The insurance is cheap but be careful it doesn't pay for much being that it's deductible based.

    Cons

The pay and raises are substandard, the insurance is deductible based which leads to paying for a regular doctor visit what some people would pay for and ER visit on on other insurance plans. The work has very little mental challenge and the chances for advancement seem very limited. The managers would love to do more for you but the company itself ties their hands. We are almost always short-handed which leads to a good amount of employees getting burned out and over worked. The annual bonuses are very poor.

    Advice to Management

Push harder to take care of your employees or the good ones will go elsewhere to make more money.

I have been working at HD Supply full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good PTO, great hours (1st shift), decent pay, the work environment is great, no complaints about the people who work there (non-management).

    Cons

Poor management, unnecessary politics, a lot of favoritism in certain departments. Starting pay should be $2 more than it is for most...a union is needed.

    Advice to Management

Leave the politics at the door and run the warehouse like it's supposed to be and there wouldn't be any issues.
