I have been working at HD Supply full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are amazing. Down to earth, kind and nearly everyone is good at what they do / works hard. A fast-moving, engaging environment that provides both challenges to navigate and opportunities to make a difference. An over-achiever's dream

    Cons

Definitely some challenges and complexities to doing your job due to the fact that HD Supply is a company built on acquisitions with a dispersed workforce. But that at least means you are never bored!

    Advice to Management

Be open to doing things differently. Cross-functional, cross-BU collaboration is key

I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some great hard working sales employees
    Decent compensation

    Cons

Poorly managed upper and middle management - no one watching them - micro manage to extremes - head hunting is common if you are not in lockstep and is seemingly encouraged - many great sales people have left due to this aggressive culture that is allowed to go unfettered - this creates a very toxic culture - this may create compliance but does not create loyal employees
Senior management seems to turn a blind eye

    Advice to Management

Remove and or re-train the upper and middle managers - very serious problems there -

    Pros

    Professionalism throughout company.
Managers only want the best from you, no micromanaging.
    Team celebrates victories.
Pay time and a half for overtime work. Which was almost always a few hours per week.

    Cons

No part-time work if you're pursuing an education.
No set time you get off of work, if you're route takes longer due to distance or amount of supply, you get off later.
Some days you get off at 4 and the next 7.
