I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Set schedule with weekends off. Benefits after 90 days (medical, dental, 401k, vision, paid sick, vacation, holidays). The management treats everyone with importance and respect.

    Cons

I can't think of a reason not to work here.

I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The health benefits were great: the medical, dental, and vision insurance saved me a lot in out-of-pocket expenses, and I have two kids so that was a big help. A personal pro was my teaching myself to record progress on a project, something I use daily when measuring productivity on personal tasks. If one were super social, it was a great place to mix it up; if they were more aloof, nobody would bother them. The company values seemed to be important at the upper echelons of leadership; at the bottom, however, hardly anyone cared.

    Cons

While the work was easy, management applied the pressure to wring more and more out of the reps to make up for the CONSTANT turnover phenomenon. The gossip and complaining from some senior reps (and management!) were at times exhausting. And management's micromanaging didn't help. It became clear very early that existing management in other departments favored years-long employees to newer people (those with the company even for a year) for recent openings, so it seemed difficult to imagine oneself growing in the company in a suitable role. On a petty note, they hired for my position a new rep, without basic academic credentials, starting them out at a higher base rate than mine, when I had been there for almost eighteen months. That was when I started submitting resumes.

    Advice to Management

Anybody who ends up here and decides to stay deserves this place and the leadership in it.

    Pros

    Flexible
    Friendly
Opportunity for advancement if you do a good job

    Cons

Insurance is horrible and they don't seem very motivated to change it
Tend to not leverage the talent they have and overlook recommended improvement opportunities

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees!

    Pros

I was under the HD umbrella, working at one of the smaller businesses they owned. I loved the business I worked for.

    Cons

Hated the parent company, they bring down the company I was at. The smaller company has so much room to grow and succeed. I dont know if the parent company was holding them back or if they are to afraid to see how they can grow their business.

    Pros

It's a challenge everyday. The fast pace work environment never makes for a dull moment.

    Cons

The hours are far too many. Leadership has a huge disconnect with management and associates.

    Advice to Management

Get out on the floor and help.

I have been working at HD Supply full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, management is always looking to recognize associates and inmediate leadership goes a long way to work with you and accommodate your requests when possible

    Cons

Some decisions are made based on the will of a few individuals and not on the will of most of the associates, in an effort to prevent conflict (read being flagged as intolerant, non inclusive, etc). Also, not clear information is provided on the future of the company staying in California so a lot of associates are unsure as to look for a new job or stay

    Advice to Management

Listen to the majority of the people, instead of a few individuals....

I worked at HD Supply full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Never missed a paycheck over many years, stability many opportunities to grow

    Cons

Losing focus, good old boys club. Great starter company but after a few years they don't keep up with the salaries of other companies.

    Advice to Management

Your people are your assets. you have lost touch with them and the customers.
