Great Place to Work
Sep 2, 2021 - Sourcing Analyst in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Most of the people working here were great to work with and had lots of experience working for other fortune 500 companies. Awesome headquarters
Cons
Can't think of any major cons

Good company, but your happiness depends on the department you work in
May 11, 2014 - Accountant in Orlando, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great company, lots of potential for growth and increased market share. Even so, the old timers still talk about how much better the company was before Home Depot bought it. Lots of good people still work there who are very good at what they do. The department I worked in was extremely good about approving time off. The company's biggest push was employee health and offered lots of programs. When I worked there, they still had normal health insurance (not high deductible like everywhere else). The company does invest in technology and upgrades their systems pretty regularly.
Cons
In the department I worked in, if you're happy doing what you're doing and not looking to promote anytime soon, you are not welcome. One of the managers there makes the whole team miserable, but upper management just looks the other way. I've heard that working for one of the lines of business is a lot better, but if you do then you're subject to downsizing. There's no winning.

Great To Work For
Aug 8, 2021 - Windows Platform Engineer in Orlando, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Awesome work environment with plenty provided. Really good training. Good culture for improving and doing your best. The people there want the company and you to succeed with strong vision from upper leadership.
Cons
Interns can be given some projects which are not related to the companies day to day of the actual employees. Instead working on side projects that will assist them.

Excellent Environment to Work in
Jul 31, 2014 - Anonymous Intern in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
As an Intern, most companies give you useless projects to do. At HDS I fel incredibly involved in every aspect of my department. The people are amazing and you really feel like you are a part of a big family. The company seems to truly care about their ideals and pushes every associate to succeed.
Cons
Changes are incredibly slow to come about because of the high number of managers. There are, in my opinion, too many layers of management to allow for an effectively run machine.

Great Company- plenty of opportunity
Jun 30, 2008 - Manager in San Diego, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great culture. Team environment. Good people that truly want to improve the company and drive sales and customer engagement. People take pride in their work. Things change all the time so there is lots of opportunity to try new roles, learn a new skill, or just get a different manager.
Cons
Not big believers in work/family balance. Most people do not have flexible schedules, laptops, or tools to enable them to occasionally work from home or leave early when needed.

Pros
Although this is technically “retail” the employees at HDS stand apart from any other retailer I have worked for. Everyone I’ve worked with is extremely down to earth and the willingness people have to help others is very impressive. Everyone seems very happy to come to work, which isn’t hard when the people you work with are great and the company as a whole has a great culture.
Cons
I have not had any bad experiences, nor do I have any complaints about HDS.

Honest and Friendly Workplace
Jan 8, 2017 - IT Intern in Orlando, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The people working at HD Supply were always friendly and focused on growth. Managers never wanted workers to not progress and the company supplied plenty of courses and internal learning opportunities to grow. As interns they allowed us to work on our project with a large degree of independence and helped whenever we needed it. Definitely recommend it.
Cons
The hours were kind of long but the one hour lunch was definitely a plus. Working in IT the slow days were very slow but if it was a busy day the hours could fly by.

I wish i never gave this company this much time
Dec 18, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Marietta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Friendly people unless you work for an acquired company where no one wants to get their top horse.
Cons
Some extremely bias managers. If you do not fit the old boy country club, you will not advance. Also, cut all bonuses for regular employees. But managers still make <10%. Nice retention bonuses for C level managers that are completely disconnected from the environments they came from.
