I worked at HDB full-time for more than 2 years

Lots of exposure if you are willing to work. Bosses can be supportive Lots of courses to improve yourself Promotion can be based on merits instead of scholarly role Centralised area TOP management gives good direction Lots of resources to tap on.

    Cons

Dealing with public takes on a different hat and can be really nasty Can be overwhelmed with work (depends on how you look at it)

    I worked at HDB

    Pros

Work location offers lots of choice for food. Good if you are in certain departments only.

    Cons

Management are always prone to knee jerks and mostly cannot see things calmly. Most senior mgmt can be temperamental and focus on flowery issues and not keen to resolve real problems.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Be wise. Be calm in dealing with issues.

I have been working at HDB full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work with some of the most self-sacrificing staff Work with some of the most resilient and dedicated staff who are able to handle the barrage of changes Good office location, lots of good food options for lunch Brand name organization, looks great on resume Quite well paid considering the amount of work you do Can learn a lot of useful things if you are proactive enough to explore everything deeper

    Cons

Work with some of the most demanding bosses with super high expectations No autonomy, no ownership of your work, everything you do is to support the bosses and needs their clearance and approval until it becomes exactly what they want and not what you want Can be asked to do a lot of low-level work that no one wants to do

    Pros

good exposure to see the housing development process from planning, design to procurement and implementation.

    Cons

I worked at HDB full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Exposes you to the workings of the construction industry involving all possible relevant government agencies/ministries/statutory boards etc, decent welfare

    Cons

Management can be overly concerned with public feedback to the extent that they give in to every whim, high workload, overtime is a norm, internal rotation is but a fantasy in some departments

    Advice to Management

Take a firm stand on issues instead of bending to every whim of the public, let staff have a say in internal rotation, instead of leaving everything to the Directors to decide
