        I worked at HDB

        Pros

Work location offers lots of choice for food. Good if you are in certain departments only.

        Cons

Management are always prone to knee jerks and mostly cannot see things calmly. Most senior mgmt can be temperamental and focus on flowery issues and not keen to resolve real problems.

        Advice to Management

Be fair. Be wise. Be calm in dealing with issues.

            Negative Outlook

I have been working at HDB full-time for more than 4 years

            Pros

            1. Pride of working in a well-established organisation that everyone knows 2. Impact of work is highly visible as work areas affect many people 3. Colleagues are generally dedicated, friendly and helpful

            Cons

            1. Overwhelming workload due to cuts in manpower without replacement 2. Demanding public and higher management who want instant gratification 3. Too much red tape with many layers of bureaucracy, i.e. lack of autonomy Constant need to do reports to seek approval from your superior, superior's superior, superior's superior's superior, superior's superior's superior's superior, and so forth for a simple matter.

            Advice to Management

Delegate more authority downwards. Provide more manpower on the ground. Resist the tendency to become top heavy, or micromanage. Let staff have more time, autonomy and authority to perform their roles effectively, and focus on each task.
