I have been working at HDFC Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Learning opportunity.
    Comparatively higher pay.
For asset side the advantage is that the sourcing is to be done by branch so unlike other banks no resposibility on RM to bring new clients.

    Cons

    No work life balance.
Lengthy, time consuming and poorly designed internal processes.
Company does cost cutting in every aspect of work. It uses free softwares instead of proper paid ones. For eg instead of MS Office, they are using a free software called Open office which is pathetic as it lacks most of the functions and hangs very often. Most of the softwares used are of low quality and this makes a work worth 5 mins take 30 mins to do. Many such cost cutting methods are harming the productivity very badly.
    Unbearable work pressure.
    Lacks proper work culture.

    Advice to Management

Stop cost cutting on every thing.
Use proper softwares. Stop using free softwares.
    Give proper work life balance.
    Develop proper work culture.

I have been working at HDFC Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People know your bank and brand

    Cons

    Poor work life balance
    Double standards of bosses
Aditya Puri has managed to strike a great work-life balance, but cares little for his people’s work-life balance. Because, if they also have a great work-life balance, then the company performance will suffer and Mr Puri cannot get those awards and rising stock prices

    Advice to Management

Bank is nothing but hard work and sweat of its employees start taking care of your people Before it's too late

    Pros

Get to face the client from day 1 and learn how the work is being done in a retail branch

    Cons

Worst company to start career for someone who has a good IQ. Management won't even listen to your achievements and always crib about your targets.

    Advice to Management

Try to give campus hires some more chances in other profiles rather than forcing them to work in sales role only.

    Pros

Good for management trainees at they get lot of exposure. Not good for lateral hires.

    Cons

Pay is very less as compared to other private sector banks. Daily mental harassment by Managers and vertical heads. No work life balance. No trainings. RSM HR is helpless.

    Advice to Management

Please spend some money on employee welfare, increase the HR budget for employee engagement activities.
