I worked at HDR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very friendly people (with some exceptions of course)
Overall good environment, with nice office space.
not bad compensation (i guess depending on region).
    Interesting projects to work on.
Teamwork is present at some level
    Growth Opportunities
Travel Opportunities for trainings and etc
Higher up managers are busy with projects -which is a good thing.. and they don't really invest in people (see below)

    Cons

    Too much "middle man" micromanagement
People are constantly leaving and new ppl are coming. Lots of overtime. Lots of weekends working full day. I mean staff is overworked.
With that, people are thrown to projects without proper explanations, trainings, and they end up being frustrated and overworked. Its just a broken system. At least in marketing.

    Advice to Management

Please hire people who you dont need to micromanage. And when you do- don't micromanage them. It will free up a lot of space.

I have been working at HDR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

HDR provides a positive and motivating work environment. HDR believes in their employees and inspires them to do great things through work opportunities and training. HDR wants employees to be happy and allows for flexible work schedules that fit the employees needs as well as the companies.

    Cons

Unfortunately, it is an office job for the majority of employees. This means you have to be comfortable with sitting in front of a computer for long hours. Lastly, getting a pay increase can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Always listening to your employees. Continue to be flexible and work towards a ROWE (Results Only Work Environment). Inspire employees to pursue training and higher education.

Sometimes there just isn't any work where you live and relocating is a possibility.

I have been working at HDR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, good pay with regular raises and promotions, work from home once a week, great benefits/insurance, wonderful team and managers, variety of projects. HDR invests in you as an employee, and will send you to relevant training or national conferences to help advance your career goals.

    Cons

A lot of people on the team are long-term employees, and have been at HDR for 10, 15, 20, 25 years (which shows it's a great company to work for). When you first start, you will be given a lot of smaller, boring jobs until you work up the totem pole a little bit (around 2 years). Oh, and the parking situation is awful. If you've been there less than 3-4 years, you'll have to take a shuttle from the Crossroads Mall parking garage.

I have been working at HDR full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Great work/life balance
    -Supportive Management
    -Collaborative teams
    -Friendly people/good culture
    -Lots of internal movement available
    -Community involvement/Charities/Donations
    -Stong business outlook

    Cons

The only downside of working at the Omaha HQ location is parking - but you just learn to live with it because the rest of the "pros" greatly outweigh this one "con".

I worked at HDR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work environment, good pay, stable work environment, mostly free weekends and low travel from a position perspective

    Cons

Not an integrated company. People have extremely difficult time doing their own job because they feel they can do other jobs better than them. Very quick to hire people with false credentials and then wonder why projects fail. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY!!! ZERO adherence to any form of minimal procedures and policies. Too eager to say yes to clients rather than professionally guide them. No growth opportunities - No career path. Good luck trying to figure out how to move up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

You are the (small) size you are for a reason - You're the reason.
