I worked at HIT Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

AWESOME Benefits once Mattel took over, AWESOME hours once Mattel took over...Can basically get away with doing no work and getting paid. everyone just sort of does what they want, you come in and do your job, you'll have a meeting with your 'team' and then you are free to work at your own pace, surf the internet, leave and go run errands etc...very casual environment. Its a great place to work if you have another career and just need a paychek.
The company has a lot of parties...they celebrate basically every holiday and major event, they provide food and snacks all the time.

    Cons

Upper management has no idea what they are doing, they are out of touch with reality as to what human beings can get done, people are title crazy! there is a power struggle among managers and supervisors to prove to executive that they are doing good work.. 'playing the corporate political game'. Things are currently rocky since Mattel took over, people at HIT are wondering if they are going to lose their jobs. There have already been 2 major lay offs, so not sure what the future of the company is.

    Advice to Management

Executives need to be more in touch with reality and the actual day to day work that the rest of the company does.

    Pros

I had a great mentor that really allowed me to grow. My internship was paid. Valuable feedback from senior management. I would love to go back to work there full-time

    Cons

My department was small and therefore I wasn't able to get a full-time job. Would prefer to have more interns in the program.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I worked at HIT Entertainment full-time

    Pros

Wonderful colleagues to work with, great brand, great product and content. Environment was great, as well. Everyone truly loved what they were doing for children and families with quality content, products, games, videos, stories, and toys to educate, entertain, and encourage children with. multi-dimensions to the company from direct to manufacture, direct manufactured toys, direct to consumer online, broadcast, licensed products to events and stage shows with on location retail, which provided a vibrant multi-channel marketing platform to develop product for and drive revenue across all channels.

    Cons

HIT purchased multiple brands over a number of years; and, ultimately, they were bought/sold numerous times. With that, the original headquarters was eliminated.

I have been working at HIT Entertainment full-time

    Pros

The only perk of this company is half day Friday all year round.

    Cons

No one cares about the employees in this company at all. Unless you are an executive, you are clueless about changes and deals. Pay is terrible and everyone leaves or stays and looks miserable.

    Advice to Management

treat your employees well, otherwise everyone is going to keep on leaving.

    Pros

Great working environment and every Friday is half day Friday.

    Cons

No work life balance and everything was due yesterday

I have been working at HIT Entertainment full-time

    Pros

Some great people to work with.

    Cons

Absolutely zero management, constant uncertainty. Management is only driven by personal agendas with back stabbing and lying. People are moved into roles that do not have any experience for that role, but because they are 'liked'. Never seen so many people quit without a job.

    Advice to Management

Company is losing talented people because of the politics. Treat people like people and not just a head count.

  8. "Could be a better place to work but too political, more so than many other places."

    Pros

    Strong evergreen brands with potential.

    Cons

Priorities change often from management. A lot of favoritism. You could work hard but not be liked or not do much and be well liked.

I have been working at HIT Entertainment full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This company has a high level of experience and talent in their employees. It has good benefits, strong brands and the work is rewarding.

    Cons

If you work for this company, you can expect to work long hours, encounter stressful deadlines and because the company was recently purchased, it is a company in transition. Processes are constantly evolving as they change from the way a small company was run to the way a large corporation is run.

    Advice to Management

Don't expect to replace local job knowledge and positions with outsourcing, databases or automation and get the same high quality results.
