    Very understanding of work/life balance.

    Cons

the government sets the rates and therefore forces HMEA (and other human service providers) to pay direct staff less than they deserve.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Negative Outlook

I worked at HMEA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with the clients were the only pros, you learn a lot of patience.

    Cons

So many cons, where to start? 1. I think they're paying for their reviews! Not a good company at all, if you are compassionate about working in human services this company will leave you without hope for the human race. Overworked, unstructured, unappreciated and the amount of people
hurt on the job, has left people disabled! The mangement ONLY cares about saving face and it is such a disgrace and disservice to those they serve. The facility I worked was so unkept, and they refused to hire professional cleaning services. They turnover rate is ridiculous! But this goes to show you how much they value their employees. If you value your sanity and health, go work for a company who promotes a more therapeutic environment for the clients as well for the workers. Please!!! The petty arguing and gossip in these workplaces will leave gasping for your very last breath. I'm not kidding! The workers are lined up to clock out like 20minutes before the end of their shift. Mangement works to fire you. Their idea of training is having you read documents and sign them.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workers? Appreciate them. Invest in your centers! Don't hire people just looking for a job but are actually compassionate about helping those you serve. Make your insurance more affordable for Everyone!! Or just close your centers?

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at HMEA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule (mornings, afternoons, and evenings) and ability to make a difference in the life of someone who has a disability.

    Cons

Miscommunication amongst management, poor communication from management to employees that they supervise, changes and requests from management without notice. If you like to plan ahead, are detail-oriented, and want your questions answered, HMEA is not for you. Raises are slim, regardless of your work ethic.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication so that everyone is on the same page and has the information that they need to manage their responsibilities efficiently. Provide supervision to the employees beneath you to ensure that they are doing their jobs correctly.

    Pros

    Cons

Salaries are in line within this industry, but are still low

    Advice to Management
