    Pros

General office culture is great, people enjoy each other. When the business is thriving there is an open generosity with time and "office treats". You'll make friends there.

    Cons

There is a "boys club" feel when it comes to promotions and job assignments. There are certain employees that seem to have 100% job security no matter how effective or ineffective they are at their job. Having Architects run a business during hard times isn't fun.

    Advice to Management

Employees' knowledge and ideas are not appreciated when it comes to the business side of the company. Listen to your employees and ask for suggestions. Just because someone is younger or female doesn't mean that their feedback lacks merit. Turning your head and starting a conversation with someone else about hunting mid sentence doesn't inspire a positive attitude.

    Pros

Most of the employees are good to work with.

    Cons

Management gives employees lip service at best unless you are a "sacred" employee.

    Advice to Management

Remember that without the worker bees, you don't have a company ... reward them.

I worked at HMN Architects full-time

    Pros

Great People, Fun place to work during good times. They are very accomodating to the needs of personal life.

    Cons

The firm is extremely top heavy with management that is sucking all the profits from jobs. There is no accountability amongst the partners.

    Advice to Management

    Fire some of the principals!
