I have been working at HMR Veterans Services full-time

    Pros

Pride caring for veterans. Pay is decent. Set days and unit once given a permanent wing.

    Cons

Always ALWAYS short staffed in every department. Cannot keep new hires. Usually quit right away since it is non-stop work.

    Advice to Management

Manage the turnover by getting rid of those employees that call out routinely instead of turning a blind eye.

I have been working at HMR Veterans Services full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Veterans are awesome and small house concept allows lots of freedom.

    Cons

Management is very unstable and unorganized. Equal opportunity is not equal to all. Individuals are picked on, made fun of, and fired unfairly. Your asked to give resignation even if your an excellent employee but not very popular so they won't have to find a reason to fire you.

    Advice to Management

Be fair to everyone in all dept, from all aspects. More work and less drinking parties.

I worked at HMR Veterans Services part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    Convenient in the tri-county axis

    Cons

Nurses pushed the union out and were made managers now that they've lost the Veterans home contract they are nursing again so they don't lose their job when new mgmt takes over so from that acrion alone you can see the cliques.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to what's s going on. How do you forget about yearly increases? Why do you complain about staff staying late due to late reliefs and shortstaffing and not address the causes? Why are some nights the patients dinner is a pb and j because you ran out of food? Why do the gna's get blamed for spreading bacteria when you know that the water sustem is contaminated with (sp?) legionnairres? Why is the...
