I worked at HMSHost full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

In the airport, easy job, decent pay if young and have no bills

    Cons

    Overlooked for growth, understaffed,

    Advice to Management

Hire for character, train for skill. This would help the turnover rate.

I worked at HMSHost full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was treated very well at this company, but I wasn't there long enough to really get a feel for it. I was hired as a restaurant hostess, told it would take around 6 months to be promoted to server (they made the real money as they were allowed to accept tips) Everyone there seemed satisfied as they made good money for the job (a restaurant at the airport)

    Cons

I kept getting assigned hours/days when they knew I would be at school. It was the reason I resigned.

    Advice to Management

If you have students working for you be mindful of their schedules. They will perform for you better/stay longer if you work around their school schedules. High turnover costs everyone a lot

    Pros

10 dollar spending limit on lunch everyday
    Modified price on train
Great way to meet new people in a fast paced environments
Can be a very fun environment if you do your job right
Fixed schedule with set off days

    Cons

    Management were unprofessional
A lot of workers were very lazy
    High turnover rate
Some stores lack of formal training, most new hires are taught in a sink or swim manner
Can be very tiring and somedays you'll have a line all day with just you and one other person
    Lots of gossiping

    Advice to Management

Putting more of an effort into hiring people who would want to work for this company not just people looking for a job
    Listening to the employees
    Better break and schedule structure

    Pros

associates make the job who work most of the time without help from managers or HR, supervisors are worked until they burnout ,forced out or quit

    Cons

poor management from top to bottom, pay is horrible and the supervisors have no authority other than to do the jobs of the managers who have no clues or even care

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

They give plenty of opportunities to earn different incentives as well as bonuses all for pretty much just being a great sales person.

    Cons

Upper management likes to micromanage a lot. Supervisors and managers alike tend to watch you like a hawk. Also, not the best job for people who have a hard time standing for long periods of time. Management isn't very compassionate towards drastic situations.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to do a better job at taking care of their employees. The employees keep your company in motion and if the employees are happy, they will unknowingly display that to the customers.

    Pros

It's a easy going job, you don't have to have experience to get hired. positions start off a little more than minimum wages.

    Cons

They start you off at part time, you have to work your way at to full time but even though you are part time they want you to have a flexible schedule but they don't want to give you the hours especially when they slow. Don't be a cashier, they do blind drops and always trying to run games on you about stealing their money.

    Advice to Management

Do Better, Management Have Gotten Real Poor and You Guys Are Slacking

    Pros

Variety of experiences. Chance to meet different people.

    Cons

Job description has nothing to do with the things you are required to do. Non-working phone system. Antiquated computer system. Constant and random updates in procedures that make things more tedious and difficult. Non-adherence to own published associate policies and ethics.

    Advice to Management

Get closer to staff. You have no idea how many rumors exist and how much being out of touch makes them resent you.

    Pros

The salary and benefits were comparable with most companies for the position.

    Cons

Firering policies and lack of consideration for loyalty, dedication, and hard work leave much to be desired.I've known people that were let go for unreasonable and unwarranted reasons. "GIVE THEM THE PICKLE" as well

    Advice to Management

A company should value and appreciate valuable employees and not treat them so indispensable.
