I have been working at HNTB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people here are professional and treat each other with respect. Management is very respectful to employees.

    Cons

Pay grades and job descriptions are too structured. Health insurance is too expensive. I would like to see a pure co-pay program.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible with pay grade scales. Offer promotional increases when a promotion is given, and not just if the pay grade scale also increases.

I worked at HNTB full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Medium size company. Professional Management. Competitive Salary and Benefits. Professional ambiance. Challenging Assignments

    Cons

Company looks to get jobs done by junior staff with minimum involvement of senior staff resulting in lack of work and non-billability for senior staff.

    Advice to Management

Involve Senior Staff . All work should be routed through Senior Staff.

I worked at HNTB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The majority of the people who work for HNTB are helpful, and actually care.

    Cons

It is all about the mighty dollar, and not about the people. Management is more worried about an Employee being Job chargeable, then holding onto the people who go over and beyond. HR is not there for you when you need them, nor is upper management.

    Advice to Management

The almighty dollar is great, but you need to be there for your employees.

I worked at HNTB full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Can work remotely on occasion

    Cons

Bullying, lack of training,, no tools given to new employees to succeed, it's a sink or swim environment, management does not spend enough time with new employees . i began looking for a new job shortly after I started with this company because the culture was not inclusive and you were given very short deadlines to get work done. Not enough lead time to actually learn or read what needs to be done.

    Advice to Management

Don't tell your new employees on their first day that "It's all down hill from here my friend" What a bad way to start a new job. Train your employees and give them the tools they need to succeed instead of ignoring them. The ambassador program works great in theory, but if the right training is given then it's a pointless program. When you're trainer skips a lot of training and tells you not to worry about it then hangs you out dry and throws you under the bus for their short comings it's a problem. Glad to be done with this company. It was a breath of fresh air to walk out the door.
