I worked at HOCHTIEF full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Centrally located in Essen, just a few minutes walk from the main station and next to a nice park and theater. Nothing else.

    Cons

Hochtief was a very good company but since the takeover by the Spanish company ACS it has been driven into the ground. The result is - in the Infrastructure division at least - most of the decent people have moved on, and the few that are left are governed by grossly incompetent upper management with a blame culture like I have never witnessed before. They lie through their back teeth to cover their backsides, treat people like idiots and never listen to what anyone has to say. My advise is to steer well clear.

    Advice to Management

    Leave.

I have been working at HOCHTIEF full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employees were user friendly type from my point of view.
As they teach what we ask like doubts, clarification with there busy schedule till we get that.so its good to me.

    Cons

Sometimes two or three days work should be completed within a day ends.Continuing the work without any sleep till the task completion with error free work is a massive challenging work for me in this company.

    Advice to Management

Start some saving account for employees apart from salaried account in order to save some.
I had faced some difficulties to explore myself in this company

    I worked at HOCHTIEF full-time

    Pros

Central location, near a metro station.
Great colleagues (most of them), experienced and hard-working.
The company organizes social events every year, like team buildings, Christmas party, Family Day...

    Cons

Poor communication between departments and upper management.
No or very limited possibilities to evolve.
No or very poor trainings (some of them political).
Salaries go from very low to very high (the very high ones are also political).

    Pros

International company, well-known in its field, great oportunities to work outside Brazil

    Cons

Senior management does not recognize educational achievements, like MBA, MSc or, in my specific case, a PhD. Contrary of what is public advertised, HOCHTIEF do Brazil does not support educational achievements, neither financially or in allowing time off for these activities.

    Advice to Management

Management should simply act as they preach to the market: invest in employees’ careers.
