I worked at HOK full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

PTO schedule and generous HSA employer contribution. There are some really great people throughout the organization. The office space is nice.

    Cons

The processes and procedures are inefficient. There is a severe lack of training, and the organization is resistant to finding new, more effective ways of doing things because leadership is complacent and fine with doing things the way they always have.

It was a positive overall experience.

I worked at HOK full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of nice people and a good work environment with stand/ sit desks, and lots of natural light

    Cons

High Turnover, Gossip, Seems like everyone knows what is going to happen to you but you.

    Advice to Management

I think you really need to work on transparency and stop hiring people just to lay them off when you run out of work. It seems it would make more sense to hire temps or make short term positions.

I worked at HOK full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Prestigious firm with stellar reputation on the outside. Best and most current software with decent hardware.

    Cons

Cliques and bullies abound! Watch your back at all times. Long hours and weekends required, which they tell you during on-boarding process. Little opportunity for advancement. Strange promotion policies.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what your employees are saying and doing. Don't get buddy/buddy with just one or two underlings, and don't ignore obvious problems.
