I worked at HORNE LLP full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits and salary are above average for Mobile

    Cons

Make promises about flexibility hours so you can take care of your family. Everything is great for the first 6-8 months, then they nitpick about everything.

    Advice to Management

    Family always comes FIRST!!

I have been working at HORNE LLP

    Pros

Depending on what group you are in some have some perks such as trips you get to go on and events.

    Cons

Underpaid as compared to friends 500 feet down the street by $8,000-$12,000. Very 1980s good ole boy club. No clear reason for promotions other than the partner likes one person more (this has not negatively affected me). It's just a place that sells you the world and I would say bold faced lies to you during interviews and internships to get you to work there. I want to tell interns to run.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting the Partners just do there own thing. If Joey's ideas where actually implemented this would be a decent place to work.

I have been working at HORNE LLP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Benefits and you are trained

    Cons

Too much to share: no OT, not enough time in the day to get everything complete, harsh deadlines, starting pay is what you get, no yearly raises.

    Pros

    - You aren't unemployed and you receive a steady paycheck - You aren't getting shot at or working in a dangerous environment

    Cons

Before you begin reading, please note that I am trying so hard to do you a favor if you are considering employment with this firm. With that said, do you consider yourself to be intelligent, ambitious, and someone who pushes yourself to be the best you can be? Then HORNE is NOT the place for you. The work itself is painfully dull and mundane. Raises are a complete joke, and promotions are based on anything but... talent and merit. This company honestly embodies some of the worst aspects of the American business world. Management seems to weed out every employee that shows promise and talent to ensure no one passes them on the corporate ladder. This firm is one of the best in the country when it comes to running off talent. The quality of work performed by the firm for its clients is often sub-par and paired with unethical practices. Management is extremely passive aggressive, so conflicts are never actually resolved. The whole "Wise Firm" culture is deceiving. Beware of believing everything you are told in interviews. You are NOT encouraged to work from home, and flexibility at this firm is comical. If you consider yourself to be a good employee, you deserve better than this firm. You will get worked to the bone for very average pay, be given a countless number of empty promises, and find yourself always disappointed. The firm also hypocritically uses "Christian morals and principles" as a crutch so much that it is honestly offensive. This firm, whether it admits it or not, fully abides by the idea of "perception is reality." So, if you want to engage in a backstabbing fest with your co-workers, then this firm might be the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Merge with a Big Four firm, collect that paycheck you so desperately want, and get out of the business.

    Pros

Started out in the Big 4 and switched over to Horne. Significantly more laid back and less stressful. Very satisfied with the switch.

    Cons

Some occasional travel is necessary in the auditing field.

I worked at HORNE LLP full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Everything used to be great.. Culture was great.. It seemed like they were about flexibility..

    Cons

BUT supervisors and managers take no accountability for their roles in the audit.. they will work you like a dog and say one thing and will throw you under the bus and run you over in their private meetings.. can't trust folks there... when you "flexed" they would talk about you behind you behind.. Huge favoritism.. As long as you are sleeping with a partner or manager you will be fine..

    Advice to Management

actually focus on being better.. less talk and more action

    Pros

They try. Great training and coaching opportunities, if you're approved by your PA/Manager to attend. HR has great support, but employees restricted by managers.

    Cons

UNDOUBTEDLY preferable to males and tolerant of women. Age discrimination is also prevalent(35+) If you were a nontraditional student, you'll be a nontraditional Horne EE-dont even bother. The texts at 10:30pm are definitely a con!! The team I was on is overconnected.

    Advice to Management

Do not rely so heavily on the guidance of manipulative managers. Prov 2:11-13. Beware of your "rising stars". Prov 4:5
