    Pros

Coworkers are mostly pleasant to work with

    Cons

Pay does not increase according to experience/productivity. New hires make almost as much working in one department as I do working multiple departments daily with over a decade of experience.

    Pros

A lot of opportunity to work independently with room for professional development. Some flexibility. Opportunity to develop skills in new areas.

    Cons

Fundamental process-related challenges make it difficult to address issues causing repeated defects in production.

Great company to work for - but don't expect to accomplish much

Jul 7, 2022 - Anonymous Employee in Lewisville, TX

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great local company culture. Fair salary, good benefits and flexibility.

    Cons

There is a lot of red tape. The management team in the USA is great, but they don't have much power to make things happen as the real decision makers are on the other side of the world. The international managers don't seem to have a clue what they are doing, yet they make all the decisions.

Good company, terrible people, unrealistic expectations

    Apr 20, 2022 - Lab Technician III

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The benefits were great. multiple weeks of PTO, health insurance, and vision benefits, among other perks. When the location closed the severance package was above and beyond.

    Cons

The location where you work will 100% determine your experience. If there are decent humans at that location, it will be a decent job, for a good company. If the location has a toxic work environment, management will do little or nothing to address it until it approaches the level of lawsuits. Plenty of overtime, but your goals will always be adjusted, to expect more and more work, in less and less time. Make no mistake, they have production quotas, and not meeting them will be a problem. Expect to work plenty of overtime some weeks, while burning through some PTO the weeks when orders slow down.

    Pros

Great team atmosphere. Knowledgeable co-workers that are always more than happy to teach you something new everyday! No work day is ever the same, which is the exciting part of it all.

    Cons

No cons really! A nice team environment and you can be proud of the hard work and team effort

Does not care about work home life balance

    Apr 19, 2022 - Opthalmic Technician

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    You get free glasses sometimes

    Cons

After working overtime voluntarily, IE being asked if I could not being forced to, I was told that I had to stay regardless of what my plans were. This was ten minutes before my shift ended so I couldn't even plan to have someone else to get my kid from daycare. My supervisor told me that this was now going to be the norm. So be prepared for that. They do not care about your work-home life balance. Your schedule could go from predictable to unpredictable without notice.

    Walk the Talk

Mar 17, 2021 - Project Manager in Dallas, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

I recently started at Hoya, after working at Essilor for many years on different teams across the organization. The biggest difference to me (which was noticeable from the interview process!) is the values-based culture and people-first attitude in everything they do. A lot of companies promote this but at Hoya it's genuine, and it starts from the top and trickles down to the front-line lab teams which is really rare in manufacturing. Salary was very competitive and the company is growing and seeking talent to take them to the next level. If you're a high-performer, you should really consider Hoya because the sky is...you get what I'm saying. Insurance is really good, pay less for more. Employer-match 401k. Working manager/all-hands on deck kinda structure, so built in empathy mechanism which is refreshing. Smaller company, so fewer levels to navigate and less bureaucracy to wade through. Ear of exec leaders. I feel respected & valued. I look forward to growing my career and contributing.

    Cons

Immature in their DE&I strategy, but the workforce is diverse and there seems to be a willingness to increase activities; more direct oversight of spending which can add delays to initiatives and projects
