    Pros

Good pay and overtime opportunities if you want it. The work is easy and there is no standard.

    Cons

Middle school blacktop environment. People have their cliques and if you're not in the circle they'll smile in your face and shake your hand then run to the office and tell the managers stuff about you that's not true just to get you fired. The former graveyard foreman who just recently went to day shift is the biggest snake you'll ever meet in your life. If you like to go to work and work this place isn't for you. Guys come in early for overtime and don't work. They hide in the back where no cameras are and just talk for hours. Guys hide in the pick aisles on their phones. On day shift the guys that load always go outside together and hang out and talk. Almost everyone takes 25-40 minute breaks instead of the 15 and goes to the break room and hang out 10 minutes before punching out for lunch then punch back in and stay for another 20 minutes. Days off are terrible there's guys there for close to 20 years that have days off during the week.

    Advice to Management

Set a standard everyone takes advantage of not having a standard and hangs out all day and night. Track performance instead of basing anything off he said she said. Crack down on people taking advantage of breaks and lunches and hiding where no cameras are. Shut down the plant and warehouse on a specific day of the week every week to make necessary repairs and routine maintenance. Better running equipment will maximize your output. As a manager and supervisor get out into the warehouse and see what really goes on out there. The work ethic is terrible and all your good workers get chased away by not partaking in the cliques. Make sure the guys training the new hires shows them everything correct not stuff like walking through a pick day into the crane aisle to fix the crane or going on the crane 4 tiers high standing on the forks with no fall protection equipment.

I worked at HP Hood (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, good pay, good training, great people to work with. The position was challenging and enjoyable. Most people in other departments were very helpful.

    Cons

Upper management. They took a business that was thriving and expanding, fired the people in charge of sales for the branded product, and did little to support the brand. Sales that had been on an upward trend reversed direction for many years due to lack of understanding of how to manage the business.

    Advice to Management

When taking over a successful brand, listen to the people that have spent years marketing and selling that brand to make it successful.

I have been working at HP Hood full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The employees are great to work with, and they know what they are doing. Pay is really good and the benefits are also good. The quality manager is honest and she welcomes input from her employees. The supervisors in production are loyal to their employees, and step up when needed.

    Cons

Communication could be better, but the management team is getting better. It's virtually impossible to move up, because of the size of the location. This not the company's fault, it just happens to be a small plant.

    Advice to Management

Remember that your most important resource is your employees. Please rethink your policy on wages, it currently does not promote hard work.

I worked at HP Hood full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pay is high for work. Benefit package is ok, and theres good incentive to live healthy. HR is good at her job, and she acts professional

    Cons

There seems to be a disconnect between management and the hourly employees. Pay is the same for everyone, mostly. Training is lacking in many ways.

    Advice to Management

Include employees input when making changes, they know what works.

I have been working at HP Hood full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay starting
    Medical dental, and vision
    Profit sharing
Plenty of overtime (if you want)
    Good training
    401k
    Plenty of room to advance

    Cons

Plenty of overtime (even if you don't want)
unobtainable goals with personal and equipment on hand (This can lead to frustration)
Some management has a disconnect with the job and a feasible timeline.
You have to stay in a job a year to be able to transfer. You don't like your job? To bad if you want to keep working there you'll have to stick with it for a year.
Work life balance is terrible (Do not recommend to single parents)

    Advice to Management

Management should know how the plant is currently running, not what it was like 5-10 years ago when they MAY have done said job.
Don't cheap out on equipment if it is needed buy it, it's a drop in the bucket compared to yearly profits.
Hire more staff if one area is low, not make overtime a regular thing. Happy employee's are more productive than stressed out ones.
Listen to the employee's doing the job, trust me we don't want to complain or probably even talk to you we just want to be able to do our job.

    Cons
