I have been working at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Culture, diversity and life balance are practice and serious about them. Enjoy having a couple of days working at home. Also a good place to advance in your career and continue your education.

    Cons

Salaries are low and transferring internally won’t get you a desire salary. No too many options for medical benefits including dental and vision.

    Advice to Management

To be more competitive in salaries especially for internal transfers.

    Pros

Salary is good..that's all... get client letters for contractors which assists during stamping and visa extensions..

    Cons

Use outdated technologies..lots of discrimination between employees and full time..inflexible with timeliness and work from home policies.. beauracratic administration . Devops and process not used at all.

I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great compensation for talented individuals! Fast paced, progressive and innovative company. Diversity a plus with female leadership in exec ranks!

    Cons

Huge company, 300k employees, US operation second fiddle to U.K.; most US employees will never see exec leaders of company except through video.

    Advice to Management

Be present more ; loyal talented employees will always be your most important asset

I have been working at HSBC Holdings (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Remote Access, involved in community activities, promotes diversity

    Cons

Do not invest in the development of co-workers, upper management agrees with functional managers in all cases involving their staff. Never look into performance appraisals rebuttals.

    Advice to Management

Assess your management and departmental management staff as your operational/functional managers assess their staff.

I have been working at HSBC Holdings (More than a year)

    Pros

They offer decent work-life balance and vacation days

    Cons

management that has no functional/technical skills in the area they are managing because they were hired by their friends in senior management. Nobody knows what they are doing and so things never really get done adequately. No investment in the career of their employees which is why they have a low employee-retention. Management makes promises that never come to light unless it serves to benefit them more. Likewise, career opportunities are only offered when they serve to benefit the management more than the employee. The good ones end up leaving once they realize what's really going on.
HR is almost nonexistent. I have never met my HR rep (if i have one) They do nothing to assist employees with HR-related issues. Intact, any complaint to HR usually comes back to bite the employee

    Advice to Management

Bring in good talent, invest in their careers and and make effort to retain them. Don't hinder their growth simply because you feel threatened about your own job. Keep in mind that what you sow (whether good/bad), you shall reap

I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay wasn't bad, excellent family leave including paternal policy. Remote work from home. Flexible on schedule. Good time off policies.

    Cons

Nobody I worked with actually liked the company...it's very telling when most employees don't open bank accounts with their own company!? Management has no idea what they are doing and the wrong people are constantly promoted. They can't get out of their own way when it comes to processes and procedures. There is so much red tape that it's tough to actually get your job done.

    Advice to Management

Too many things to fix that they wouldn't know where to start.
