    Pros

    The pay is very good

    Cons

Not a family oriented company, there is absolutely no work or life balance.

    Advice to Management

Take time to learn and know the process before making demands.

I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are quite nice, nice office on 5th ave...

    Cons

Senior management is quite disconnected from the daily operations of the company. They make business decisions based solely on spreadsheet and balance sheet analysis, with no understanding of the realities behind those numbers. Too focused on cost cutting without understanding the productivity behind those costs, outsource just to save money, not to improve productivity, as such productivity is destroyed.

    Advice to Management

They are too far gone to understand the damage they are doing to the company.

    Pros

    - supportive team and good coaching/mentoring
    - good deal flow in my team

    Cons

serious management issues, unacceptable for a bank like HSBC:
    - verbal return offer from multiple sources but don't matter, they can't keep their word
    - difficult to get a hold of HR, not picking up phone calls, emails, etc.
    - not really merit- or performance-based, but rather sponsorship-based (avoid if you are not an American citizen because they do not want to sponsor you!)

    Pros

Good potential client information. OK manager training and encouragement. Good product information and qualifications. Good flexibility on hours to work, take off for breaks, come back in for continuing work.

    Cons

There were a lot of games played on personal evaluations. Managers had to have some complaints, negative comments, even if they had never talked to you about the negative performance. Not at all good at bonus payments, increased salary based on performance, etc.

    Advice to Management

Reward your employees based upon performance. Instruct managers to do honest performance evaluations, not check every box company reviews. Have frequent and meaningful written reviews of performance with all parties signing it and employee chance to state her/his views as well.

    Pros

I find the benefits to be good. They match on the first 4% of of salary that you put into your 401k. And they match 50% on a family flexible spending account. And they do believe in work/life balance.

    Cons

The cost cutting resulting in budget decreases and staff reductions has been brutal in the US. Conversion to Agile/Scrum/DevOps methodology is slow.
