I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent experience, learn a lot in short amount of time

    Cons

Group leadership turned over 3 times in 3 years.
Only 2 or 3 analysts became associates, most left to join other M&A groups or go to PE
Everything about the group is kind of a joke, mostly pitching and few deals, no leadership, zero mentor-ship except by other analysts/associates
Pay consistently below mkt with little differentiation regardless of work amount or quality

    Pros

Awesome friends and no micromanaging. The company did its best more than others I have worked for to make us happy. Great company

    Cons

HSBC moves operational out of DE. Relocation was the only option . Wish companies were more work from home savvy

I have been working at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent people work here and most people are helpful. Though not a US bulge bracket firm, most areas of Global Markets are good.

    Cons

European centric and there are too many remote foreign directives that don’t make sense here in the US. This includes the laughable nonsensical trading restrictions that demonstrates clearly that overseas management has no clue/no credibility.

    Advice to Management

Too much control via remote from overseas, without too much clue of what’s going on locally.

  6. "Teller"

    Pros

Great hours, holidays off, understanding management

    Cons

repetitive. Felt like a midway job. Sales quotas were nearly impossible deepening on how busy branch was.

    Advice to Management

Sales quota for tellers should be based on traffic of new clientele.

I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, ability for a number of positions to work from home on a regular basis.

    Cons

Company is cost cutting all over the place and offshoring jobs and outsourcing. Hectic work load and schedule, mixed messages from management, constant change of direction. U.K. management out of touch with what is going on with North America operations. Execs out for themselves.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people and communicate.

I have been working at HSBC Holdings full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paycheck - thatbis the absolute only pro! The place is a dinosaur and we all know what happened to the dinosaurs - they became extinct

    Cons

They tout courageous integrity but when you act withbit you are peanilized. The UK tries to run the US like a UK business - guess what??? Doesn’t work. A lot of silos, nobody wants to do anything and those that do are dumped on and get written up. If the manager likes you regardless if you are incompetent you keep your job. If management feels threatened rather than face and fix the problem they look to fire you.
    R U N.... don’t walk away from here

    Advice to Management

Let the US run the business like a US business and look at Sr. Mgmt from GBC3 and up, they are worse than the captain from the titanic and are steering your ship straight to the ICEBERG.
