I have been working at HSN full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Working from home
Self paced learning (loved it but but FAST paced learning)
I can't think of anymore pros and have to type 20 words to submit them

    Cons

Train 2 was w 2 mock calls then your on your own.training is fast and confusing because they throw a LOT of info and you and expect you to learn it in 1 day. A lot of offensive and rude customers. Any technical problems will be blamed on your computer and not the "hsn.net isn't responding" error that happens. If customer calls and the web page freezes you have to reboot and ask customer to call back 🙄

    Advice to Management

You wouldn't have such a high turnover rate w sales reps if you gave them 3-4 wiz to train and time to take it all in and feel comfortable!

I have been working at HSN full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nothing. This place is a wasteland of egos and overlap. I came for less stress, and fell into a cesspool of micromanagement by someone who is both Condescending AND Incompetent. It's a cultural trait and will hopefully be fixed after being acquired

    Cons

Honestly, it's an endless list. The leadership refuses to adapt to the times. Condescending policies. Everything about this place says "you aren't an adult". If the attitudes weren't bad enough, they avoid actual job related issues in order to try to distract you from the fact that this place is good for nothing.

    Advice to Management

Take accountability. Embrace talent and progression. Reach out to those under your subordinates. There are HUGE issues that cannot be addressed because of the bureaucratic culture. I shouldn't have to deal with my moron boss just because you're out of touch with how bad it really is. You should be feeling the relationships out.

    Pros

Interesting business model, however may change with recent acquisition by QVC
challenging environment- many new things to learn, but training is substandard

    Cons

    Lack of professionalism
Ability of HR to affect change for unprofessional management
No teamwork within pyramid- peers constantly mock one another

    Advice to Management

Real awareness of what is happening within pyramid and for HR to address known issues

    Pros

At the moment I can't think of any PROS for this job.

    Cons

Everything about the job. Management, customer base, programs, training, you name it.

    Advice to Management

Re-train and make sure everyone is on the same page.

    Pros

    I don't have any pros.

    Cons

Low pay, ridiculous metrics you are rated on. Try talking to the customer base and you'll realize it's a bunch of old lonely people. Everyone has a sob story. Supervisors are annoying, their let's go upsells attitude is annoying. Try being on he phone with these people, they can barely hear you. WHAT?!

    Advice to Management

Your products are ridiculous. Sell things that people actually need and then I would feel good about offering them these goods.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate some of the supervisors and lead shifts

I worked at HSN full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits package with good insurance and 2 weeks off per year right out of training. Ability to work from home offers options to single mothers and others who need to stay home.

    Cons

Very poor hardware and software infrastructure tools that employees are forced to use that frequently have issues, but the company always insists that the issues are the fault of the employee. Going over a maximum of tech leave per month results in a write-up... regardless of whether or not the employee had any control over the issues. Ridiculously low expected talk time allowance that does not provide for adequate servicing of the customer. Employees are expected to only do the bare minimum and get the customer off the phone. Upsells used to be a lucrative way to earn extra money, hundreds of dollars per month for some folks. Constantly changing rules regarding upsells, and very poor upsell choices, have led to almost non-existent upsell money, yet the employees are still held to the same expected upsell amounts. Quality standards constantly change without alerting employees that they've changed until they receive a poor quality rating. Don't believe anything they tell you during the interview about how the job works. It's a lie.

    Advice to Management

Clients do not come first... employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients. ~Richard Branson

    Pros

    Very few Interesting business model

    Cons

The human resources department does little to nothing to address poor managers It's an unprofessional environment that encourages cliques and has little or no understanding of how poor management and harassment affects work effectiveness

    Advice to Management

Management must not avoid conflict with experience managers who harass others For managers who have executives reporting to them , there needs to be a higher standard of evaluating their management style and effectiveness
