I have been working at HUB International full-time (More than 5 years)
I've been with HUB for over 5 years and I love working here. The benefits are great, lots of options to choose from. HUB Gives is an excellent program to help give back to our community. Managers definitely aren't micro-managers, employees are allowed to do their work and are trusted to get it done. Advancement opportunities are available . It's a large company with the feel of a small local agency.
I don't think of it as a con, but HUB is always changing. If you don't deal well with change then HUB won't be a good fit for you.

Large agency and room to work your way up from the bottom to the top. Room to move around within the company. Flexiable work schedule/hours and they're NOT micro managers at all.
Not being a micro manager means that if you're a hard worker and your other coworkers are not then that doesn't matter and will not be noticed. Every employee except management is treated as replaceable. They do not appreciate or know your worth. They do not have concern for their employees health as they will just replace you and move on. It is so far from a team environment and the feel within the office is tense constantly. Regarding salary you will never get paid what you deserve. I interviewed at two places following my emploement and was offered almost double my pay at hub each time. I'm told by new coworkers that have interviewed at HUB that when HUB asks them what there preferred salary is and the HR women will almost laugh in their face with what they request. That's nice.
Advice to Management
Treat your employees with the respect they deserve and you might be able to keep them around for an respectable time. If you keep treating you employees the way you do then eventually you will be left with zero people. Remember that a lot of people are keeping their jobs at hub due to location right now.. and that is ALL! Take care.
Great place to start your insurance career. Flex Time available and a lot of good team members to work with while they are with HUB.
Corporate culture of not caring about what you know, but who you know. Would prefer to hire 2 or 3 employees who know nothing versus one who does. Rather hostile environment for any employee that had been there for any length of time. Office was like a revolving door. Both pay or just a cost of living raise were non-existent, because there "was no money in the budget." Hourly pay for most employees that would be salaried employees anywhere else, and a payroll system designed for factory workers punching a time clock adds to the frustration.
Advice to Management
There is no substitute to an employee who has 20 plus years of experience, give them some respect rather than try and beat them down so they feel the need to leave. Reward your employees based on their skills and performance rather than who are your buddies. Pay attention to your departing employees who are telling you that certain supervisors are inappropriate and rude.
