I worked at Haier America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Before GE Appliances merger (GEA takeover) - Haier had a strong startup feel and a team oriented dynamic. Entrepreneurial and a start up feel was a great atmosphere to work in.

    Cons

GEA is the con, they took over operations and while their brand/marketshare has plummeted - they are simply adhering to an outdated playbook of running operations (more expensive and less productive than the industry). Dinosaurs run the show. In my opinion our past Haier CEO was not qualified for the position and influenced a 5.4 billion acquisition for a depreciated organization valued far far less.

    Advice to Management

Chinese needs to get involved and realize that the Haier name will not grow with current GE management. They are treating it as opening price point and have demonstrated no plan to market and build the name in this market.

    Pros

Great at first to be part of trying to build this company and make it succeed in America.

    Cons

Sad when you are owned by China who has different standards and operating procedures. They seem to lack concerns about quality and focus on quantity, which is a sure fail in the American market. Too many poorly made products with sub standard materials from China that break down and fail. America will not have that poor quality and that is why we will all be without a job as this company closes down.

    Advice to Management

There is none. Good luck in the future to all of the great people that did give it a go here and try their hardest.

    Cons

Morale is terrible due to poor Management directives and company wide initiative that are not aligned.

    Advice to Management

KPI's are not realistic and do not support initiative to increase sales and for once make some money.

I worked at Haier America (More than a year)

    Pros

Work to life balance is pretty good. Staff is great and met a lot of great people.

    Cons

No balls in management. Say one thing but do another. Upper management really looks out for themselves. Communication is lack lustering and the former CEO really showed his true colors when the tough got going with the GE acquisition instead of standing by the team who built Haier he ran and hid. Disappointing to say the lease.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the employees without them your jobs wouldn't be around.

I worked at Haier America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice people to work with, good benefits, flexible work hours schedule

    Cons

Cheap and bad quality products, way too many managers that make too much $ and don't do any work. Bad quality control. Horrible management after all. 4 people on HR department and 2 of them don't do anything all day long. Company is going down in a couple of years. The day that i was being let go along with 10 people, informed my manager and HR that i was 3 months pregnant, no consideration at all. Btw, my boss knew of my pregnancy 2 weeks before all these. No heart, not considered after being there almost 3 years. I trained 4 of my co-workers. What a shame

    Advice to Management

    At this point, God bless!
