I have been working at Halfaker and Associates full-time

    Pros

I really like the extra perks. They truly try to take care of the employees. Free yoga and HIIT classes, occasional events like nutrition classes, once a month gathering to taste different beers, and the kitchen is so nice. Outside of the perks, it is a work hard, play hard mentality. Expectations are high and deadlines must be met, but there is a great team dynamic so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

    Cons

I don’t really have a lot of complaints. I suppose it’s annoying that the bathrooms are out of the office and I drink lots of water, so I guess that’s a con?

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing. The end of year party this year was a great time and really gives me hope for the company’s future. I feel like I can grow here. So many people I work with that started in a completely different role and they have transitioned to a new position within the company. That’s great for me, as I feel like I have upward mobility with lots of options.

I worked at Halfaker and Associates full-time

    Pros

Some people in the company seem like genuine and nice people, but those people are mostly at the lower levels.

    Cons

It bears repeating, my boss had someone else fire me because she wanted to go home and take a nap!! There are just plainly terrible and horrible people in some management positions. My boss hired me and fired me in the span of 30 calendar, 23 working days, probably because she had already decided that she didn't want to invest in my development and didn't want me to get benefits. I got the sense that management only wants people that are 100% proficient in something already that they can dump a dysfunctional workload on to for you to improve processes. In my department, there was a culture where questions were met with curtness and impoliteness, mistakes were emphasized above all else, we were told to take work slow and to favor accuracy, but were constantly threatened with late night and weekend work for being slow. To the latter's credit, they were not empty threats. We would, and did, work on weekends. The boss has a closed door policy most of the time and gave instructions loud, frantic, and annoyed. I found that in just 30 days my friends commented on my stressed personal appearance and my wife noticed that I was not myself.

I could say more but I don't want to come off too disgruntled so I will stop. The bottom line is that to anyone reading this, the idea of this being a company that you can grow with is simply not true. Management is growing this company and could care less about your development. So please do yourself a favor and run! And that's a shame to say, because I feel like this culture is perpetuated by only a few people in power who don't seem to care about turnover rates or poor reputation.

    Advice to Management

Please take inventory of your own core group. Some of you are eating your own. You have to find a culture that will be good for your clients and your employees. I realize that the company is growing at, perhaps, an unsustainable rate, but it isn't worth burning your employees for.

You need to spend the money to get people who are more proficient added to your teams. You undersold what was needed in my position and under-hired at my expense. Be more honest about what your needs are.

I have been working at Halfaker and Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Receiving excellent praise and feedback from clients
-Small company feel even with the company growing
-Flexibility for working hours and schedule
    -Allowance to work remotely

    Cons

-A little bit of hesitation about investing in hardware and software.

    Advice to Management

Continue working closely with clients. As well, continue to keep the small company vibe, even though the company is growing quickly. It is so often easy for employees to lose heart when those higher up stop listening to them.

One last thought is to not be afraid to bite the bullet on purchasing hardware/software. Yes, it is costly now, but in the long run, it will pay out.
