I have been working at Halff Associates full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Management understands the value of keeping up with latest technology for software development. Allows employees to create, design and implement web development. Instead of constantly using cookie cutter applications. Management is relaxed, so relaxed you can basically not work all day (write comics, youtube & chill, watch sports) and still hold down this job. Management will allow you to "work from home" almost...

    Cons

Bad pay policies. Be prepared to be underpaid! If you are a new developer and starting out this is a good place to learn BUT they will never pay you what your worth. They will hire people at a higher salary and then have you train them (up to a year)! People take advantage of the relaxed culture, so some employees do more work then others. Constantly changing policies and day-to-day procedures. The Insurance is a...

    Advice to Management

If there is a cancer in the team Kill the cancer instead of having your best employees leave. Don't expect to keep good employees when they KNOW they are underpaid. If your going to push your employees to better themselves and get certificates, PLEASE pay them for their hard work and achievements. Don't Lie to your employees.. They are smarter than you think!

I worked at Halff Associates full-time

    Pros

Ability to pursue descent projects due to size and being a multi-discipline firm (if the marketing department decides it's worth the time). Somewhat stable company since it's core projects in the public sector. Enjoyed the collaboration with fellow team members. The company could have potential...

    Cons

Lots of corporate rules that are hidden and not directly expressed. Heaven forbid if you cross the marketing department. No clear policy on advancement and annual reviews are joke. Training for middle management is only supplied to those that are selected.

    Advice to Management

Stick with your stated principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, candor and respect and remember this also to how the employees are treated.

I have been working at Halff Associates full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Halff is a very employee-oriented company. Other companies can be very focused on the bottom line on a month-to-month basis (what have you done for me lately kind of attitude), but Halff is good at viewing your work as a whole; they understand that some projects will go better than others. The work atmosphere is great, about as low-stress as you can get while still meeting deadlines. After Hurricane Harvey, there was...

      Cons

The company tries not to over-staff during busy periods (to avoid layoffs during slow-downs). This sometimes results in working more than 40 hours per week.

      Advice to Management

Keep listening to your employees and maintain the great Halff culture. I really like the "Chat with Pat" (CEO has lunch with teams in each office).

I worked at Halff Associates full-time

      Pros

Some training during your lunch hour...

      Cons

Bad benefits, only 2 weeks vacation and sick leave, they provide hospital insurance as health care so be prepared to pay for doctor's visit and meds out of pocket, your expected to work 45 to 50 hrs with no overtime, if your salary. Their always hounding you down, stressful

I have been working at Halff Associates full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

GREAT place to START your career and get training, just be gone in two to three years. The job there is pretty low pressure.

      Cons

All the employee's in my department are 30% under paid (per my supervisor), Their medical insurance is a major pain to deal with. Room for advancement is practically nonexistent. Procedures in my department seem to change on a weekly basis.

      Advice to Management

      1) Everyone seems to know your project billing practices are fairy tale, but you. 2) When it takes you a YEAR to find an employee, you might want to consider raising your pay scale. 3) When you pay people 20-30% under their market value, it makes it easier for people to steal your employee's. 4) Don't push loyal employee's to the point they disengage. If your people run out of work with their hair on fire at quitting...
