Treat people with respect and when you are caught out admit your errors and do not hide behind the data protection act because it works both ways as you have found out.

I worked at Halfords part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good discount, convenient hours and location with good parking. Good facilities and environment at Support Centre. Has Costa Coffee and canteen. Good IT and Wi Fi.

    Cons

Cannot be promoted if part-time. Under constant pressure to achieve (your bosses) target, even though your not the one collecting the bonus. Lack of appreciation for long service - staff discarded on a whim or if a new boss wants to change the team.

    Advice to Management

Address the Passive aggressive atmosphere in office and attitude of (generally female) line managers.

    Pros

Canteen was nice. and toilets were clean

    Cons

Don't use scanners instead uses a voice recognition headset which you have to say same word to 50 times for it to understand. Completely and utterly ridiculous ! Never met a place with such a high turnover of staff.

    Advice to Management

Use Red Prairie system like every other successful company.

I worked at Halfords full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the people you will work with are really nice people. The staff discount is pretty nice to have, and there are lots of other benefits available to you as an employee of Halfords.

    Cons

I worked in a few different stores and kept finding one recurring issue, they don't employ enough people! On a quiet day you would be lucky to get everything done, and even luckier if you managed to catch up with the tasks you were unable to complete on a previous busy day because you were too busy doing 2 or 3 jobs at once.

Can be very cliquey, which is useless if you don't enjoy shoving your nose up someones rear.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your colleagues complaints and take them seriously. Don't be so cliquey, it's perfectly acceptable to be better friends with some colleagues than others, but don't make it obvious to everyone around you.
