I worked at Hall Automotive full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay & benefits. Drive around in nice cars.

    Cons

No work-life balance. Bad management. Highly stressful. No help. Be prepared to revolve your life around the job. They will promise you all these great things, then they turn out to be lies. You will have to dedicate your life to this job to be successful. This means 60+ hours week, going in on the few days off you have, trying to sell cars to people when you are not even at work. 9am-9pm most days, Saturday included. Sunday is also a work day for you.

    Advice to Management

    Be helpful.

I worked at Hall Automotive full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hours, the amount of days you worked, some of the customers were great.

    Cons

Some of the employees there were treated special above all others, which showed when it came to things they've done.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to hire someone to take over a management position, make sure they aren't power hungry or racist.

I worked at Hall Automotive full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good core group of desk managers and service employees good training and skill developement for beginners in the industry

    Cons

The general manager and the few General sales managers over the last 3 years could work just as well at kmart .

    Advice to Management

Once founded complaints from customers and employees circle around a particular person that person should be changed and not the people around them. Your training pay brings in unqualified hires and isn't enough to live on.

I worked at Hall Automotive full-time

    Pros

Before the last manager, this was a decent company to work for. Okay pay, good benefits, etc. Good location, high visibility, good product that customers like.

    Cons

Then a GM that supposedly sexually harassed females at other locations moved in. He is verbally abusive, prone to explode in fits of rage and says highly sexual/inappropriate things to female employees. He manages to fool most customers but all of the good people are leaving as soon as they can. All of the signs of bad management are there. Many employees believe the GM to have some sort of serious mood disorder and its old-school car selling unethical there whenever he can get away with it.

    Advice to Management

Take a really close look at what is going on there. People are threatened on a daily basis and its really a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

    It pays the bills, almost.

    Cons

Most of the upper management, including the General Manager in Chesapeake, are old school guys who want to do it the way they did 30 years ago. Today's employee is different and responds to a different style of bottom up management. These guys are racist, unprofessional, and really only care about the bottom line. I am white, and in management, and am uncomfortable most of the time.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and realize that your staff is your most important asset. When you take care of them first, your customers will automatically be treated well. They are not pawns to be used strictly to line your pocketbooks. They have lives and families that are far more important to them than this job.
