I have been working at Hall Booth Smith, P.C full-time

    Pros

Friendly upper level management that care about their employees.

    Cons

$5,000 Medical insurance deductible is extremely high for single and $10,000 for family. No other options are offered. Can't even afford to go to the doctor! This is like having Obamacare!

    Advice to Management

Upgrade technology. The firm is large enough now that the doc management system should be more efficient.

Easy to obtain experience working with excellent partners.

    Cons

Similar hourly requirement as higher paying firms. No benefits for spouse or family.

I worked at Hall Booth Smith, P.C full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Firm has created a very welcoming culture with leadership that does listen to their employees. The founding partners are actively involved and do lead by example.

    Cons

If you have one bad egg on your leadership team and can create a perception that all of your leaders behave this way. I have seen leadership (and attorneys) yelling at staff more than once with no repercussions. It is contrary to the strong culture John Hall and Alex Booth have created. I personally was yelled at and ordered to shut her office door but refused out of fear.

    Advice to Management

Serious consideration needs to be given to Firm Administration. This role should be held by someone with composure, a steady mind/body and a person who is open to listening and learning.

The firm is extremely pleasant and very good at events and thanking their employees for jobs well done. They are open to new ideas.

I have been working at Hall Booth Smith, P.C full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Familylike environment. Good salary. Nice people. Several locations.

    Cons

Insurance benefits are awful. Extremely large deductibles on the only plan offered. Minimal training.

    Advice to Management

You provide the worst healthcare benefits available. At least offer other plans to choose from for those who would rather pay more for insurance than go bankrupt trying to take care of their health. Moral / work product would be better if this was one less major thing in life to have on our shoulders.

I worked at Hall Booth Smith, P.C full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful external and internal physical structure and great amenities. Overall friendly people in a high powered environment.

    Cons

Technological processing can be cumbersome at times.

    Advice to Management

Improve the people skills of some of the staff. Very few since most are very friendly and decent folks.

I have been working at Hall Booth Smith, P.C full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoy coming to work. It's an overall great place. The Senior partners tends to be positive and understands life / work balance, which is very important to me.

    Cons

-Petty drama with office workers. Those without the know how to run a business or a successful, positive team, fight for leadership roles. The fight for control is outrages and totally unnecessary and uncalled for.
    -Insurance deductible is outrages.
    -Wages are low

    Advice to Management

Improve health care and consider a cost of living wage increase.

    Pros

Parking is provided. Free coffee and beverages. Some nice people to work with but that is the exception,

    Cons

Work load in legal assistants is very heavy and unrealistic. Expect to work through lunch or stay late to finish assignments. There is some flexibility for appointments but not worth it unless you want to have to come in on a weekend to catch up. Medical benefits have extremely high deductibles so I was afraid to even use it. Some attorneys are very condescending. In general, a "that's not my job" attitude amongst staff which causes unnecessary drama.

    Advice to Management

As a new hire HR was non-exisitant and disorganized.

I worked at Hall Booth Smith, P.C full-time

    Pros

Flexible work hours depending on who you work with at the firm.

    Cons

HBS is a work farm with VERY Low Salary, disrespect towards the staff, lack of confidentiality by HR (please do not complain to HR because it will not be confidential and you will suffer retaliation), firm policy is not across the board as favoritism by HR is alive and well. If at all possible, please avoid this firm unless you are desperate. I must say, they will feed you in lieu of paying a decent salary. Enjoy the cup cakes.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff as they have valid complaints; the light is not coming on as so many great employees have left this place and probably still leaving. Either the light is not coming on or just does not give a damn.

I have been working at Hall Booth Smith, P.C part-time

    Pros

Considerate of employees, constantly celebrating its people, incredibly understanding of school/work balance, fun, clear expectations.

    Cons

You may make a little more somewhere else, but you recoup that in food, fun, family, and even alcohol occasionally. Definitely worth the trade.

    Advice to Management

    You rock!
