I worked at Halliburton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule when not offshore. (15 days on, 6 days off).
Great training at the Fort Worth training center.

    Cons

Offshore life is a whole other lifestyle.
Hazardous work (explosives, radiation, Helicopter rides to most offshore rigs).
Work until the job is done, staying up 24 hours is normal.
Management does not like Field Engineers in the field, so it's difficult to move up into office positions.
Need to be on call for the 15 days, could go offshore at anytime.

    Advice to Management

Help you field personnel advance within the company, so they're not forced to quit and find other opportunities.

I have been working at Halliburton (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Halliburton coil tubing is a great way to gain experience and knowledge on different types of down hole situations. It also gives you an opportunity to work as a team to achieve a certain goal as per company rep. And or halliburton standard.

    Cons

I love working offshore and facing different job sanieros. You may catch 2 jobs that can be totally different from each other.. never trying to achieve the same goal.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The training at Halliburton is the best program you can have. Hands on experience is great also depends on if you are willing to learn.

    Cons

The pay level for the knowledge and experience that i have, doesn't match.

    Advice to Management

Know who's works for the company even the lower level employees. Make them feel welcomed sometimes, and award them for doing a great job, out there on these million dollar jobs, that we are leaving our families at night to make, this company stronger and grow more.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Great place to get your foot in the door of the oilfield industry.

    Cons

High Responsibility and high liability do not match mediocre compensation when offshore. Upward movement is slow and diminishing. Office politics are extreme.

    Advice to Management

Pay higher qualified and higher educated employees what they are worth for the high level of work they are doing. Not cowboys! If an engineer goes offshore more than 100 days out of the year he/she should make $120k +. But instead field hands make 140+ for the same work. Makes absolutely no sense. There is a reason halliburton cannot hold on to quality engineers!
