I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of very knowledgeable people work here, and most are very willing to share their knowledge and teach others. The immediate coworkers are also great - more "work friends" than just coworkers. Hal also provides plenty of training opportunities and networking within the company. Benefits are above decent, though they have been impacted by the recent downturn.

    Cons

There can be favoritism shown by some managers, which is very hard to fight. Halliburton is also all about "owning your career," which oftentimes results in little management support for helping employees identify areas of strengths and weaknesses and advancement opportunities. This wouldn't be an issue if management was willing to help the employee when they ask, rather than using it as justification to hold them back.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not an office environment, very hands-on, autonomy, no boss, lots of troubleshooting, very individual job (not team), everyone does the same job so do not have to worry when go on vacation that you will be contacted.

    Cons

    Work a lot! 12-hour shifts, 7-days a week.

    Advice to Management

Having a schedule would alleviate job hardship.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Exciting technology developments and global exposure. There is an ability to build a career within the company with development opportunities and positions across product lines or in support functions.

    Cons

Challenging environment through the 2015 downturn, but things are looking up.

    Advice to Management

The company tends to be reactive to the short term market verses a proactive, long term strategy to address industry trends.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I'm 3.5 miles away, I get 40 hours, and semi flexible schedule.

    Cons

Drama with all technicians and surrounding groups. No raise in 5 years or promotions, and no room to advance.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the employees to get maximum results! Even if it's just a little raise or compensation. It goes a long way!

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Halliburton is a great place to work because of its benefits, ethics and reputation.

    Cons

Supply chain opportunities are minimal, it is a man's world and women will find it difficult to advance.

    Advice to Management

Technology will drive the company into a better position. The company has antiquated systems. Valued employees are not allowed to advance. Departments and product lines are wrought with silos. Women are treated unfairly and in some departments are treated with disrespect. Ethical behavior suits management when it is convenient.
