    Pros

The benefits were good, the working environment is not too bad either. Internal opportunities are open to employees before outsiders are considered

    Cons

They spend too much money in the hiring process and when things go down, they begin laying off in massive numbers. It's hard to balance work and life especially if you work on the field.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learn quickly, only engineer on location within 6 months, best oilfield training, 10 weeks of official classroom training during first year, little to no supervision from boss, you will learn to be self sufficient quickly which is great for personal development.

60k starting off, 25$/day per diem, 1k relocation bonus, 2k bonus at 4 months (equipment), 3k bonus at 8 months (fluids), at 1 year, up to 10% raise and daily bonus for everyday your in the field pumping a job (100$/day)... So at one year you'll be making 63k plus 100$/day bonus. Schedule is 10 on, 4 off. 3 of your days on will be in the office, 7 in the field. 11-3 for ATP's.

    Cons

300+ hours a month, lots of driving, no work life balance, always thinking about work, low pay for hours worked, must stay for at least 2 years or you will have to pay back training bonus.

    Pros

Great people, benefits, and training. Professional atmosphere. Pay was reasonable.

    Cons

Life and work balance isn't there. Politics in some camps can be a distraction. Rules can sometimes be a bit overboard due to knee jerk reactions from management over any incident.

I worked at Halliburton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Top notch training and mentor-ship program, especially for employees with no prior oil & gas experience. Most co-worker and managers are nice and easy to work with. Prior the down turn there were opportunities to get move around and cross train. The company stock purchase plan is nice.

    Cons

communication from upper management sometimes is unclear

    Advice to Management

better transparency and communication from upper management

I worked at Halliburton full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you want to work a lot, this is the place.
Pay is at the bottom end of the industry average for mechanics
    Work isn't very difficult

    Cons

    Upper management is near incompetent
No organization with scheduling, maintinence process, or maintaining parts
No tool allowance or profit sharing
    Very high turnover rate
Overworked, at least 60 hours a week, (right now it's slow) they dont care about your family or personal life. Better find someone else to run your errands and pay your bills, you may be told you work in the shop, but that won't stop them from sending you 8 hours away for weeks at a time to work on a wellsite.
I have been sent 4 hours away from home to work for a week, didn't have a hotel or man camp scheduled for me, had to sleep in my truck.

    Advice to Management

Focus on better work life balance
Bring back profit sharing incentives and tool allowances
Hire employees for the jobs they want, and don't force them to fill in the gaps because you can't retain employees.
More competitive wages would go a long ways towards retaining experienced employees.
