    I worked at Hallmark part-time

    Pros

    Pleasant environment to work in.

    Cons

Salary was too low so forced to find another Sales Associate position elsewhere. Within a month, just a mile down the road at Academy, I got a Sales Associate position which pays $3.00 per hour more for part-time work than did Hallmark!

    Advice to Management

Pay a decent wage to keep your employees and minimize turnover. Sadly, your salary barely covered the cost of gasoline and wear and tear on my car. Loved the job, but couldn't afford to stay at minimum wage.

I worked at Hallmark part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are usually great people, lots of customer interaction, fun products (especially around the holidays)

    Cons

Can be very slow when it's not around a holiday, hours are all over the place

I have been working at Hallmark part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility, 40% discount that can be stacked on clearance, receive free employee ornament for Christmas- very specific design that everyone gets. As an employee you can still use a rewards card and earn points. This means you can use your employee discount with the reward certificates that you earned through purchases. Engaging with great customers.

    Cons

A lot of these stores have shut down recently so I'm slightly afraid my store will too. As part time, depending on how bright and nice your Manager is, you can see anywhere from 12 to +25 hours per week. You cannot use your birthday coupon at all. You also cannot combine your employee discount with other special promotions. So, you're always going to choose between the promotion that is going on or your employee discount. My sales associate coworkers, even the young high schoolers, are much brighter than my current Manager. Said Manager plays favoritism with employees who are h/she's friends.

    Advice to Management

Please hire Store Managers that actually know how to lead the store, has leadership mentality and is knowledgeable.

I have been working at Hallmark part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This job has lots of flexibility since they give you work days, but not exact times to go in or how long to stay.

    Cons

Non-holiday schedules can be as low as 8-10 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

    None at this time.

I worked at Hallmark full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great product. Good lower people

    Cons

Works their employees too hard. I was there over 10 years and left as I had no work life balance. The management doesn't care and needs to change to ensure the future of the company. Nepotism is rampant but that isn't new. Upper managers are all friends. As an employee you can't say anything or give your opinion.

    Advice to Management

Please hire more people again. The stress is too much. You used to care about employees but 60 hour work week expectations and calling in on Christmas Day for a conference call is not work life balance in a non life threatening industry. Especially support the growing parts of your business with new people and to ensure long term success. Don't have managers always tell the CEO what he wants to know. He often doesn't know the truth.
