I worked at Hampton Inn full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great working environment. Friendly staff.

    Cons

Compensation is not competitive with similar jobs in the area. Also the sales department in my opinion does not deserve their high salaries for the job they perform. Such as leaving early and not working aggressively at selling the rooms and marketing like Facebook, and other online sites. There are too many really hard workers at the hotel such as the GM, AGM, Front Desk, Maintenance and House Keeping, that work each day like crazy and to see sales department getting payed for leaving early and not selling much or poorly because there is no commission for them, which I believe is completely wrong because most other sales jobs have commission exactly for such reason as sales and it encourages highest levels of performance, which is actually better for the company.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate the salaries for the areas of each hotel and the employees job duties. For sales, structure a commission base vs. salary which does not encourage growth.

I have been working at Hampton Inn full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Active job that doesn't tend to drag. Co-workers, superiors, and most customers are pleasant.

    Cons

There seems to be little path to climb and the pay is very poor.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your people better.

    "Housekeeping"

I worked at Hampton Inn full-time

    Pros

Not very long work days if you can clean your rooms fast. Housekeeping is not an hourly job. You get paid per room cleaned. The fewer housekeepers the more rooms you get per day, therefore, more money.

    Cons

Waiting for laundry to be cleaned so you can finish your rooms can be very annoying. You need to finish your rooms by a certain time or they will be either given to someone else to clean or you'll have to do them the next day.

I have been working at Hampton Inn part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Awesome hotel benefits
    Meeting new people

    Cons

If you work at a franchise, you don’t get all of the benefits for working at a corporate owned property. Pay is typically lower at a franchise.
