I have been working at Hampton Inn full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is great - helpful, positive, patient and energetic. Hilton standards are clear and precise so you consistently know what is expected of you. Love interacting with guest, meet a lot of interesting people.

    Cons

Pay is very inadequate. Work 8+ he shifts with no breaks (eat when/if you have a chance & never sit).

    Advice to Management

When you are lucky enough to make good hire, compensate them accordingly. Pay should be based more on quality of performance and what they add as the face of the Hotel. A good employee should feel valued. After all, you want them to feel a loyalty towards you because you definitely don't want them working for the competition

I worked at Hampton Inn full-time (More than a year)

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Show more appreciation for your people in terms of wages, team building, fair treatment among employees and a high expectation for everyone to do their best.

I have been working at Hampton Inn full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Our property is very much a team player atmosphere, which is imperative in the hospitality industry. We are a family and we work very well together. Our GM is the best around, and we are blessed o have a leader like him. Hotel discounts are a VERY nice plus, and we get our hours averaged throughout the year to be used for vacation. Also they are pretty flexible.

    Cons

VERY low pay for all the work involved. No room for advancement. Insurance offered to only a few employees, but VERY expensive. You have to be here because you like your job, but be prepared to have another side job, as you cannot live off the hotel industry pay. Also, Hilton advertises itself as being a family oriented environment, but it varies property to property.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees a decent living wage and you would see a LOT less turnover. A nice way to show that you appreciate your award winning staff is to make sure they can pay for basic living expenses, like rent and food :)
