I worked at Handy & Harman full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Learned a lot during my time there. Very friendly atmosphere. Pay was good, but benefits were great. Sr. executive management very experienced in the metals industry.

    Cons

Not a great deal of room for advancement because the company was run in a very lean way. Systems could have been better.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you are doing.

Solid compensation, company car, expense account, perks
    Great support
    Management usually open to ideas/suggestions

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunity for promotion
    long hours
    Lots of overnight travel required

    Advice to Management

If the company is having a record setting year, reward the sales team. Additionally, commission should be paid sooner than three months after it's earned.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

the vast majority of employees are intelligent, friendly, helpful, kind, work hard and are extremely pleasant to work with making for a positive work environment.

    Cons

the most senior executives are obnoxious, condescending, insulting and difficult to work with. They refuse to listen to the advice of their advisors and second guess the work, qualifications and abilities of just about everyone in the company

    Advice to Management

Get real. You have hired people to perform the work required by their positions because of their knowledge, experience and ability to communicate. You should treat them with respect and value their opinions and efforts rather than degrade them and have their work checked by outside services - your actions are extremely counterproductive and inefficient.
