I have been working at Hanesbrands full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Decent retirement benefits and insurance.

Paid vacation leave with 24 hour notice.

    Work environment is temperature controlled.

Pay is competitive with local employers.

    Cons

Low pay differential for experience... you make the same if you've worked 20 years or 1 year.

Unexpected layoffs that are scheduled so the employee isn't eligible for unemployment benefits. (Shut down production on Friday or Monday every week for a month instead of shutting down for a full week)

    Advice to Management

Listen to your veteran employees. They know what is wrong and how to fix it.

I have been working at Hanesbrands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Regonizable brand names: Hanes, Champion, Playtex
Global manufacture that has been acquiring companies like Maidenform, and Gear for Sports

    Cons

The only reason why the company has had growth in the last couple of years is by acquiring active wear companies. In order to maintain market share and be a leader in the industry is to innovate. The company needs to hire new designers with fresh ideas for their heritage brands. You can't keep knocking off Victoria Secret (bralettes) or follow behind FOL and Jockey. Retail industry is changing and you need to change with fresh new ideas and being quicker to market by cutting production time.

    Advice to Management

With any large company there can be a lack of communication filtering to all employees so you rely on your manager. I could go 3 weeks without having any verbal or email communication from my manager. Retail management group is made up of a good ole boys network. They have become all too comfortable in their positions and are just waiting on retirement.

I have been working at Hanesbrands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pretty good work/life balance. If you work at Oak Summit- campus is pretty. Honestly I really have nothing more to say that's positive.

    Cons

There are no raises based on merit or even a yearly cost of living raise. They tell you one thing and then take it back about benefits. I would not recommend working for this company if you want any kind of growth opportunities. Also they really underpay their TD. They have a salary range and it doesn't matter how much experience you have. Someone who has 3 years of experience could be making the same amount as someone who has 10+ years. Don't work here!

    Advice to Management

Pay your staff more. Someone who has 10+ years of experience should not make the same as someone who has 3 years. Don't tell people one thing when your offering them the job and then have them relocate and take it and take away the benefits.

    Pros

Being able to work with the customers.

    Cons

The insurance is the worst. It is expense and you have to get your prescriptions from mail order, or you can not get them. People need to be able to get medication when they need it and where they choose to pay for it. The prices on the prescriptions will eat up your paid and plus some more money.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging the staff. The people know their job. And if they don't than take the time to train them correctly. Treat the staff better and you will get better results. It will be a win ,win. I will not put my location because I feel the company will come after me for telling the truth.

    Pros

The company provided the proper training and tools to grow and become successful. Great benefits including 401k and great health care options

    Cons

Did not provide room to grow and did not listen to feedback from employees. Sometimes not compensated enough for work that is done.
