I have been working at Hanesbrands full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not a lot. Good Benefits. Affordable medical, dental, and vision insurance. Short term and long term disability, 401 K matching, Most employees are friendly and try to do a good job. If you need a short term job for a quick paycheck you can get it here, but long term look somewhere else.

    Cons

Raises every couple years less than 3%. Insurance goes up every year which results in making less and less each year due to insurance premiums increasing and raises which do not cover the premium increases. Lack of consistent work. More like a part time job instead of a full time job. Some weeks you get laid off while other weeks we are being asked to work overtime. We are told between Thursday and Friday afternoon if we are required to work on Saturday. After working Saturday, then turn around and get laid of the next week. Many production and operation issues. Equipment is very old, does not run very well and is not maintained, causing a lot of product problems. Can't meet quotas if the machines will not run. Low quality unprofessional management. Many problems which do not get addressed and continue over and over again. Company is moving many jobs oversees, probably because of the operational issues.

    Advice to Management

All Levels of management from top to bottom could use more training. Get rid of the "good old boy system" and start enforcing the policies and procedures and treating everyone consistent and fair. It shouldn't be family and friends getting preferential treatment especially when it comes to promotions. This may be why the facility is in the current situation its in. Maintenance on the machines needs completed. Be honest with the employees and stop sending out bad product or the rest of the jobs will end up oversees.

I have been working at Hanesbrands full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good Benefits, Great People, above average pay, nice facilities, lots of perks

    Cons

People at the top are complacent and worried more about managing their careers than managing the business or their employees. Really deck-heavy organization. Performance evaluations have been eliminated and there is no way to tell how your are doing or where your career is going. Totally focused on short term gains and don't seem to be overly concerned with making strategic changes or capital investments needed for business to improve/succeed in the future. Running an overly lean organization with most of the work falling on middle management and below. Burn out is reaching an all time high and after many rounds of lay-offs and voluntary retirements, many people are looking to jump ship before its too late.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like human beings that have value. It's difficult for employees to understand if they are performing up to par or not when most management doesn't conduct performance evaluations; constantly hearing how bad business is and how everyone needs to do more and be more positive about it can be draining. There is more to a company's culture than following the rules and doing what's right, people want to be respected and valued and actually have fun while they are working. There is no fun left in the organization, it is all forced. It certainly wouldn't hurt for upper and executive management to come down off the 5th floor every once in a while and actually interact with employees. You have really talented, great people working for you for now but if things don't begin to change, they won't work there for long.
