I have been working at Hanesbrands full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pretty laid back work environment. Employees are pretty nice and helpful. Insurance is decent if you need LBGTQ++ related coverage.

    Cons

No value to loyalty, no matter how long you work there, you could work there twenty years and get paid the same as the guy who just got out of training. Upper management won't tell you anything. So don't count on having trust.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees more that includes what they know and their loyalty. Honesty is the best policy it would help reduce the drama if they told us what's going on.

I have been working at Hanesbrands full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Co workers are nice . Good 401k

    Cons

Bad behavior in upper management is rewarded. Problematic terms like “urban” are tossed around and rap music is blasted during sales presentations a prop. They are constantly marketing to POC but have few on the team an 0 in management roles. There is no work life balance and wanting to have one is frowned upon.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees as assets and allow them to grow. Take and adhere to some sort of bias training

I worked at Hanesbrands full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Free on-site gym and doctor's office Brand name recognition

    Cons

Everything that company does is reactive rather than proactive. There are so many archaic, interlocked systems (both financial and marketing) that have never been fully integrated with one another but have been added to the queue as yet another band-aid for a symptom of an issue - never truly addressing the root cause. There were way too many instances where upper management were more than okay to provide a temporary fix to meet a deadline and then refuse to address the real issue once the deadline has passed. When implementing a new reconciliation software, individuals expressed concern about gaining initial functionality for fear that once management recognized that method worked, they would never put the time and resources forward to bring everything to full functionality even while the company was _paying_ for full functionality. The environment is extremely degrading. Individuals have certain reputations for intentionally putting up roadblocks to improving efficiency simply because they don't want anything else on their plate or it doesn't suite their preferences. Senior managers have been known to tear others down and speak poorly about others while not even bothering to have any discretion. The company claims to have career growth in mind, but I can honestly say I learned less in 3 years than I have in just several months at other positions. There is an air of arrogance where seniors do not believe that someone else may have helpful ideas and can contribute to issues at hand. In the cases where I asked to explore a different area I was interested in, I was shot down. It's common knowledge around the company that it's easier to get into the company than it is to move around once you're there.

    Advice to Management

There's really no advice to give. The toxic culture that exists has become so ingrained within the company, it would take a major overhaul to address - one I do not see coming any time soon.

I worked at Hanesbrands full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Had a great experience the first 10 years. Had great upper management and they cared about the employees. Decent amount of vacation time but was told when you could take it.

    Cons

No pay raises without threatening to quit. Regionals and Corporate changed dramatically, always worried if you made a small mistake you could be fired. Changed scheduling and didn't care if you worked 2 weeks in a row or several days of open to close shifts. Salaried managers treated poorly...overworked and underpaid for all the work being done on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

Should do yearly reviews on regional managers after speaking to store managers. Need to pay better and give raises more often for in-store managers. Give back product incentives. Follow your Open door policy without the reporting person getting in trouble with regional.

I worked at Hanesbrands full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits are good. There are some very good, dedicated people who deserve credit for doing their jobs well. Pay is adequate.

    Cons

Unless you work in marketing, there is no room for advancement. Pay raises are few and far between. Not an employee friendly company. Absolutely no work/life balance. Upper management cares nothing for employees. Human Resources is a complete joke. Extremely hierarchical organization.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and realize the talent you have in your employees. Promote from within before hiring off the street and especially straight out of college. Experience should count for something. Focus on retaining talent and get rid of "dead weight." Take a long look at who you have as managers. Just because they can "manage up" doesn't mean they can manage people. Reverse discrimination runs rampant in this company.
