I have been working at Hanger full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Coworkers and patients. Hands down. A great field.

    Cons

Pay your people! Young clinicians leave immediately to work for competition and be paid appropriately. Invest in your staff, reward the ones that are good. This doesn't happen. No raises for anyone company wide For over a year now. 401ks match will now be annual and depend on how "we did that year" this is pathetic. Clinical decisions are taking from the hands of the practitioners and put into non clinical hands to be decided. The patient is considered last.

    Advice to Management

You continually lost good employees and allow absolute disasters to continue working. The good folks that are left are so burned out they are interviewing elsewhere, quit, or just sad and defeated. Oas are leaving left and right. The acm was fired.
Transparency. Closing office doors and not telling people what is going. Clarity. Your employees think you are pocketing the extra money by not hiring replacements, combining rolls, and not paying people well. No one knows what is truly going on and everyone feels very under appreciated.

I worked at Hanger as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Awesome co-workers (non-management)
    Great events!!
Bring your kid to work day is really fun and educational.
CEO is a really nice guy!!

    Cons

    Upper management is terrible.
Complete and total lack of communication.
A really good supervisor is constantly getting looked over even when they have been employed with the company for years.
Management does not value contractors at all.
Constantly laying off excellent employees and promoting employees that don't work. Have repeatedly seen employees promoted that have needed help with their work from lower employees and didn't even know how to run programs such as OPS or NexGen.
Contractors are not included in holiday functions. Sat at the office by myself working on numerous holidays while "full-time" staff were out partying at Christmas/etc.

    Advice to Management

Realize that it doesn't matter if you're a direct hire or a contract employee. I worked the same if not more hours than my co-workers. Got more complements on my work ethics and was abruptly laid off with no notice. Did the same job for 16 months and really loved my job. Unfortunate situation with upper management and the way they handle contractors. Stop playing favorites with supervisors. Stop promoting insufferable suck-ups to upper management.

    Pros

    Serving prosthetic and orthopedic patients

    Cons

No defined career path for employees, silo'd leadership, zero accountability as leadership blames ex-employees for systemic problems, vendors get blamed when projects miss the mark, execs are more worried about perception instead of profitability, corporate culture = monthly pizza party

    Advice to Management

you can't blame everything on ex-employees take accountability and fix what is not working instead of ignoring it

I worked at Hanger (Less than a year)

    Pros

The building was nice, and the surrounding areas were nice. I met several co-workers whom I maintain good professional relationships with.

    Cons

Hanger is so large and makes so much money, they don't need to care about their employee happiness. I went there because I wanted to feel like I was helping people that were having a difficult medical situations. I left because management did care to change or listen to new ways of doing things.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue.

Toughens you up for any other challenge in life. After this place they all look pretty good. There are some good people here, just not in management.

    Cons

Worst IT management team ever not counting Comerica Bank. Unless you hate your family and don't like positive reinforcement, I suggest looking elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Start over with a new crew that understands workers are persons with feelings and families. Lead by example not by strutting and shouting.
