      Toxic

      Pros

      - Coworkers - Opportunities if you stick around long enough and appease the Koreans - Decent resume builder

      Cons

It is pathetic that we do not have the authority and tools we need to succeed because of the unwillingness to trust the Americans. All you will be is a puppet for Global and micromanaged by your Korean manager. The culture is extremely toxic and HR does not have much authority to address complaints from employees about Koreans. Most Korean management has no respect for their employees. They demand respect, but do not return it and will publicly humiliate and degrade you. The Koreans come and go every few years. The Koreans are often time not only coming to the American market for the first time, but also to a completely new department that they have never been a part of. This may be great for the development of the Korean, but it completely messes up the American structure when they come and go. By the end of their stay they have a decent understanding and then leave and a new Korean comes. It takes a long time to build a relationship and trust with the Koreans and it feels as if you, the employee, are having to prove yourself and explain why you deserve a seat in the department to the Korean. You did not apply for a new job - they did. Because the Koreans are here for a limited time, most actions are performative and just simply checking the box to look good before they get promoted to the next position at another subsidiary. The systems put in place or decisions made are not well thought out or meant to last, therefore leaving AHQ with terrible infrastructure.

Not bad for first job out of college. Otherwise not Great.

Apr 19, 2021 - Process Engineer in Clarksville, TN

      Business Outlook

      Pros

A fast paced environment with lots of opportunities to learn. Finish tasks at your own pace (as long as its reasonable). And often times start your own projects. If you can find the time, you do have the potential to be creative.

      Cons

Pay is low in comparison to everywhere else. Benefits are not great. Engineers in Maintenance & Manufacturing are expected to work significant overtime (50-60 hours a week) with no overtime pay. These engineers also are mandated to work weekends with no overtime pay. Korean and American management relations here are not good and often hostile leading to conflict that can lead to engineers being stuck in the middle and forced to make a decision as to which side they want to listen to. Overall employee moral is low from Sr. Engineers down to operators. Most every position is underpaid and overworked. Staffing is so low that other operators, Line Leaders, Local Masters, Group Leaders, and Engineers are often forced to come in to help cover.

      Better off at Bridgestone

      Pros

There really weren’t many, if any at all. Yearly bonus was nice but incredibly low for what the company spends. Hankook has a tremendous amount of potential as a brand and company, but often had their focus in the wrong places.

      Cons

Management that doesn’t trust their employees, whether in office or out. If you aren’t an employee from global HQ, you likely won’t have a future past an entry level job at best. If you *do* get lucky enough for one of the higher positions, you’ll likely realize you’re overqualified and underpaid for what they want you to do. They’ll work ya and push you until you either leave or get fired when they see your use being up.

Go with your gut - this place is an absolute train wreck

      Pros

Some of the people are great

      Cons

I worked at HK for almost 3 years. I kept thinking, surely it’s got to get better. It doesn’t. The Korean mgmt use the Americans as proxy punching bags for customers. All decisions are made by the Koreans and they do not share any information with the Americans. I asked multiple times, what is our strategic plan? No one could tell me. Not in 3 years. The Koreans want to “sell more tires” but the plant production is erratic, the tire technology is outdated, and the prices are terrible. How are you suppose to sell that? The Koreans have a major chip on their shoulders. They do not respect Americans and will openly talk down to you. I’ve been away from Hankook for a couple months and can’t put to words how glad I am that I left. The place is absolutely toxic. Don’t take it from me. There are probably no more than 50 people that work in the Nashville office. Go look at the job postings. I think there are 10 right now. 20% of the total workforce is gone because of how bad it is. Save yourself the time, the energy, the gray hair. Run far, far away.

      Pros

It's a steady pay check and they do not drug test. oh - opportunity to work in different departments is great because so many of your co-workers quit.

      Cons

too many to list. Poor communication. Poor work environment. Whatever your job title is don't worry - you will do everything yourself. Either because your boss ask you to or your co-workers do not know how. There are no plants or trees in the office - everyone is focused on their computer the only place looks life less. very sad environment.

      Big Mistake- Don't Join Hankook!

May 19, 2021 - Corporate Team in Nashville, TN

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Hankook makes a good product

      Cons

By far the absolute worst place I've ever worked. Will leave as soon as another opportunity comes as other employees do. The office environment is miserable. When I joined the company, I knew very soon that I had made a bad mistake joining Hankook. There is no direction. As a new employee you are given no guidance or training. You literally are just thrown into situations with no training and expected to perform. There is no collaboration between departments, literally none. The Korean staff are the decision makers and the American staff interface with customers and are the "doers". No American staff has the authority to make any decisions. Even at the Director and VP level. It's literally a joke at the office. None of the employees have anything positive to say about the company. Early when I joined, the employees outwardly told me how miserable it is at Hankook and how they were looking for a new position. The turn over is so high....I've seen so many people leave the company in the short time I've been here. The office is miserable, everyday! It's so difficult to show up each day. Save yourself and don't move forward with Hankook.
