I have been working at Hanna Andersson full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Upper management is very accessible and truly cares about the employees - if you e mail the CEO he will e mail you back himself- and that is true throughout the entire company

    Cons

company has grown in size and not grown in production or creativity to balance things- the same way things have always been done isn't necessarily the best way- as a whole the company needs to be more open to different ways of executing things besides how they have always done it.... especially when it comes to merchandising and visuals

    Advice to Management

Stop layering large events on top of one and other ex- scheduling floor set, an in store customer event, holiday, markdowns and transfers and then a garnish of inventory all in the same week- we aren't super human- stagger out the labor intensive projects- its overwhelming and they do it constantly!!!!!

    Cons

Several people have been leaving the company lately. Not sure if that will come down the line to retail stores in the future?

I worked at Hanna Andersson (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount and customers. Children who come in are adorable

    Cons

How does the company expect customers to be fully acknowledged and taken care of as they should be, when the small overwhelmed staff, has to do new floor sets, markdowns, help customers, do phone orders, clean, keep store neat, etc. etc.New floor sets have a time limit and the floor is a mess for customers to walk around. No other choice. It has to be done and while store is open. They now allow it to be done early and during working hours. Why? Because it is too much! They should pay people to come in and do overnight.Ridiculous what they expect from employee's. . Phones ring off the hook because of being short handed and overwhelmed but.... don't let the phones ring... but don't let customers on floor be ignored... Cannot do both!Craziness! Head spinning stressful work environment when there's new floor sets to be done, and big sales and massive mark downs at same time. Exhausting and totally unrecognized how hard everyone works.Never felt appreciated in the least! After working SO hard, that is upsetting.Returns are out of control. When customers regularly return 10,15 or more.. pieces for a $200 to $1000 or thereabouts refund, how can that not be seen as affecting the overall stores #'s?! The return policy is hugely taken advantage of.It's also very time consuming when you have to search history for many pieces when no receipt.

    Advice to Management

Hire DM's who work on the floor with employees when visiting, in all ways, to see the hard work and care they put in instead of observing tiny time slots thinking they see all and then staying in back the rest of time. Talk with managers about handling issues correctly and when they are first observed. and not letting employees continue bad behavior for long times. Manager should write things up and talk to them privately continually to nip bad things in the bud.Favoritism is a big part of the problem. Not managing correctly at all is a huge problem that carries over to everything. When there's no discussion or write ups with the unacceptable behaviors, these things continue. It's the managers # 1 job to do that.It is not done.Because it is overlooked, others pick up the slack and get no respect or recognition for doing so.There is no chart of sharing responsibilities in cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the floor and fixtures, etc.
The hard time managers have in recruiting quality people has largely to do with your reviews. Fix things and maybe it will change.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

You really need to consider being the assistant manager back to the company because I'm about to start searching around. When the new VP took over, it seem like there was going to be a chance for this possibility. But all your ever told is to talk to your SM or DM who have no positions open nor any solid advice on the possibility of an Assistant. This has now prompted me to start applying other places. You want to keep talent then you need to start showing it.

Great discount for both the Hanna and Love Hanna lines, Fantastic supervisors, Fun and driven coworkers, and Manageable yet challenging sales goals. Really nice place to work as a teen and young adult

    Cons

Shrinkage was frustrating. Not a fan of the dress code sometimes - I don't own a lot of fancy clothes! I'm in college...

    Advice to Management

Please loosen up the dress code and trust that your employees have the judgement to pick out work appropriate outfits that include jeans or open-toed shoes.

    Cons

Management gets paid out while we are underpaid, parents have little support/flexibility despite being a "family" company, 401k and bonuses are only paid out if we meet huge sales plans, lack of care and appreciation overall for workers.
