I worked at Hannaford Bros. part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent hours and wage for part time employees (mostly students)

    Cons

No great sense of team, no bonuses or benefits during busy times when more is expected from employees i.e Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and other holidays. Extremely corporate focused.

    Advice to Management

Give back to your employees that do all of the leg work

I have been working at Hannaford Bros. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours and you can take whatever days you want off. Also make your own availability. Plus it is easy to find people to cover your shifts

    Cons

Unfair pay based on who has been there longer. Also don't get paid as much as you should in general.

    Advice to Management

Don't let one person run the floor by themselves, while the other shift leaders go off and do whatever. It is too much for one person especially during busy hours.

Keep doing what your doing, maybe reward hard work more

I worked at Hannaford Bros. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible scheduling
    good opportunity for advancement

    Cons

Shift leaders were all very mean. They seemed like they were under immense pressure by the higher ups to make the service clerks or cashiers hate there jobs. They treated males and females way differently. Disheartening seeing other people with less work experience start above me because the staff are afraid they can't do the manual labor (pushing carts). I tried to switch to the pharmacy so I could get some experience (I was becoming a pharmacist). They hired someone from a dfferent department for that job which shows they don't value their employees.

    Advice to Management

    loosen up

I have been working at Hannaford Bros. part-time

    Pros

Flexible hours, will work around your given availability. Great for part-timers, especially students who are going to college. Work load isn't too hard, keeps you busy and active throughout the day and so it goes by pretty quick. Management in most departments are all very nice. Training is extensive - first with video then with a week of on the job work.

    Cons

Pay isn't great - do get yearly raises but are really small. Company policy is clear, but ultimately depends on management quality in the particular store.

    Advice to Management

Should make announcements for promotion opportunities within the area/store. There is a lack of transparency for some of these opportunities which is frustrating - to hear about a position after it was filled.

I worked at Hannaford Bros. (More than a year)

    Pros

Going home and not dealing with 'managers' with no formal experience

    Cons

Hours set by 'machine' uncertain hours

    Advice to Management

Get trained. Grow a conscience and see how easy it is to become profitable.. and not assuming you have an unlimited pool of potential employees
