I worked at Hapag-Lloyd full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Hapag Lloyd is an excellent company to work for. The salary is competitive and the company offers good benefits and takes care of their employees.

    Cons

The companies organizational structure is based on a global Blue Print which does make sense however this concept doesn't always apply. Deviation from the Blue Print is frowned upon.

    I worked at Hapag-Lloyd full-time

    Pros

They have a relatively good benefits package. Receiving the benefits is another issue.

    Cons

Very reactive company-waits for the market to make a move and sees how it pans out before taking any sort of stance much less action. Systems are archaic and takes forever to have any sort of enhancement implemented. If the enhancement is area specific just forget it, it will never get done and your systems ticket will be cancelled. The only reason I gave them a one is because 0 and negative numbers are not a viable rating with this program. Senior Management team used to be good but has gotten worse over the years. If you do not mind working 24/7 and being told that you cannot take vacation, go for it. However if there is ever another instance where the US market is suffering don’t be surprised that one of their first solutions is to ask the employees to take a pay cut. If you are masochistic, this is an excellent place to work, otherwise do yourself a favor and look somewhere else-anywhere else. Stay far away from Hapag Lloyd.

    I worked at Hapag-Lloyd full-time

    Pros

Great people in workplace. Business casual dress. Good benefits.

    Cons

Have way too much to handle. Not enough staff with management replying - do the best you can. Company has taken huge fiscal losses in tough industry and will not hire people. Temporary staff replace full time people who have left. No one seems to care about well being of overworked staff on the floor. Very little promotion opportunity. Lateral moves are sold in meetings as promotions. Too many people calling in sick because they cannot handle their work day.

I have been working at Hapag-Lloyd

    Pros

Large worldwide company with good benefits

    Cons

Treatment by local manager is degrading, humiliating and insulting. Lack of training abilities resulting in slow learning process leaves one to feeling frustrated while manager/trainer treats you with disdain. Manager is openly rude and discourteous on a daily basis to those not in the "clique". Focus of company is on Main Office in Germany and US Headquarters leaving the outer offices to squander.
