I worked at Happy Joe's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun to interact with customers, Easy work, Tips, Can be fast-paced, and the discounts

    Cons

Unorganized, Bad management, Not a lot of tips, A lot of complaints, and high-turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

If you want to keep people on your staff, actually interview people to make sure you are hiring the right person for the job. Be sure to explain exactly what the job will consist of before hiring them so they know what to expect. This will help the employee and you decide whether the job is the right fit for them. You can’t expect someone to answer phones if you never told them that was part of the job. A lot of people get anxiety when talking to someone on the phone. When you do find the right person to hire, be sure to have the right person or even a manager training them. Having someone just stand around for hours and watch you make pizza is not a good way to train someone. You need to interact with them and make sure they are fully understanding how to do it. If you don’t put effort into training your new hires, you can’t expect them to know what to do after training. Also, employees should never be or feel discriminated especially by their own managers. If someone isn’t doing something right or if you don’t like the person, keep it to yourself or help them get to the point they need to. You should never make an employee feel unsafe in their workplace. This not only can cause a bad reputation for your employer and cause people to not want to work for you, it also adds on to the reasons the turn over rate is so high. Lastly, you can’t expect employees to stay off of their phones and do what they are supposed to be doing if you’re not doing it yourself. The person in charge is supposed to set the example for the employees. If you want employees to do their job, you need to do yours as well.

I worked at Happy Joe's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun to work with new people every shift. Flexible hours during school. Nice starting source of income. Store manager was nice to work with and new how to handle employees well.

    Cons

Owners were always adding ways to tighten budget, and it reflected in the minimal wage increases. Sometimes team members, including managers, couldn't pull their weight during busy times so you had to fill in for them.

I have been working at Happy Joe's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You can pick your own hours sometimes. One good manager in the kitchen. Owner isn’t there to often. Half off food after you work. Some good coworkers. Meet new people.

    Cons

You won’t be fully trained. You’ll have to fight for tables with the waitress manager. The owners not there to see the problems and is biased towards the waitress manager. There’s no real way of having your problems heard from or fixed. Your schedule is built around one persons hours and you are to accommodate it. You are rarely treated well. Some coworkers make the job much harder with their lack of intelligence. Also don’t expect a raise if you work hard and earned one.

    Advice to Management

Try keeping the good employees. Look at the managers and see who doesn’t belong as a manager anymore. Train all staff so they can accomplish their job. Stop keeping people there that don’t make sense anymore.

    Pros

The discount was nice. I liked most of my coworkers.

    Cons

Nobody tips their server ever. Management over hires and then doesn't give anybody any hours. 0/10 not worth it.

    Advice to Management

Don't promise x amount of hours if you're going only going to give them one three hour shift a week.
